Dean yawned, slamming the book he'd been reading closed. He groaned and shoved it away before rubbing at his eyes. "I've been at this so long, it's now all Greek to me."
Sam looked from his own ancient tome and gave a nod. "Well, you knew this research wasn't going to be a piece of cake."
Dean grabbed his coffee cup, scowling when he found it empty. "I know. But it's starting to feel like we're beating a dead horse."
Sam suddenly chuckled.
"What?"
"Wow, we really must be tired. We just had a conversation entirely made up of idioms."
"We did?"
"Yeah."
Dean rubbed his eyes again and then squinted at Sam. "Dude, you have a chip on your shoulder."
"What? I do not! Why would you..."
"No, Sam," Dean leaned forward and pointed. "I mean you literally have a chip on your shoulder."
Sam looked at his shoulder, discovering the potato chip. "Huh. Wonder how that got there." He plucked it off and dropped it on the table. He laughed and slammed his own book closed.
"We better go to bed—pick this up in the morning..."
"Sounds good to me."
