Part One
Deeks POV
The building went dark as Kensi cut the power, lucky she knew how to do it since neither Eric or Nell could help us here. We had to go in blind too, no building layout, no thermal imaging, no coms. Just me, Kens, Sam and Callen. Callen started to pick the lock and I adjusted my vest. Kensi was fidgeting next to me clearly nervous. The door swung open. "Ready?" Callen asked, we all nodded. Sam went in first closely followed by Callen the Kensi and me last, Callen signalled for me and Kensi to take the upstairs. The building was so dark that all I could see was Kensi's butt swaying around in front of me as she moved gracefully up the stairs. We reached the top and saw a long corridor with dozens of doors. There was a quiet bang and we sunk into the shadows pressed against the wall. We waited 30 seconds them relaxed slightly. "Make sure you've taken your gun off the safety Fern" I whispered in her ear and she chuckled quietly. She signalled me to take the doors on the right while she took the doors on the left. I walked down the dirty corridor and stopped outside the first door. I took a deep breath the pushed the door open and leapt into the room. I scanned the room, no one was in it so I continued on to the next room. The same thing happened in the next 8 rooms, only one room left now. The room at the end of the corridor. I took a deep breath, this could be it. Kensi signalled 1,2,3 and we flung the door open to find…another empty room. I exhaled heavily. There was nothing up here, I hope Sam and Callen were having better luck downstairs. We walked out of the room and down the corridor. What was that? The stairs creaking? I grabbed Kensi pulling her behind a nearby curtain, my body was pressed against hers holding her still against the wall, our faces were almost touching. I looked into her beautiful mismatched eyes, shining with adrenaline and fear. We stayed behind the curtain for a few minutes but no more creaks could be heard. We were okay to come out now. As I started to pull the curtain back so we could carry on down the corridor, Kensi grabbed my arm and pointed to the wall behind us. It wasn't a wall, it was a door. I twisted the handle slowly, the door was unlocked. I signalled 3,2,1 and we pushed the door open and jumped into the room. 3 quiet bangs echoed through the room as we shot the 3 men guarding the briefcase we've come for. Kensi reached for the case just as I saw a figure emerge from the shadows. A figure with a gun. Gun pointed at Kensi. "SHOOTER!" I shouted jumping in front of Kensi as shots were fired. As I fell to the floor I heard another shot and Kensi screaming my name.
