He was pinned down. Defeated, by the enemy. All hope seemed to be slipping away, until a silver lining. Someone had came to his rescue.
It was her. Anger mixed with crippling fear surged through him. He yelled and pleaded for her to go away, to save herself. For she was no match for a battle like this.
But she digressed and stated that she was selfishly there on her own free will.
Confusion fell upon him. 'What's that supposed to mean!?' His mind internally screamed.
"What're you talking about!? What're you doing her, it's dangerous!"
She replied with "This time, I'm going to save you..."
And then she spoke. She spoke the most beautiful words he had ever heard someone say to him. It made him forget the danger they were in for a moment. He could do nothing but listen, speechlessly in awe.
As she continued to speak, he understood. Small beads of sweat became visible on his face. His chest felt tighter as if he suddenly forgot how to breathe. He could hear the sound of his heart pounding loudly in his ears.
Then after what seemed like an eternity, she stopped talking. She paused a moment and said those three little words. Those three words he had never heard before in his life, all he could do was gape at her. They were perfect as they came out of her mouth, but the precious moment was ripped away all too soon as reality slammed back down and she charged forward.
"Shinra Tensei!" Pinned into the ground, he watched in horror and screamed for the enemy to stop.
But a sharp piercing sound was heard in the still air, and she fell to the ground beside the enemy. The enemy said something to him after that, but did not hear it, as a thousand emotions ran through him.
Devastation, guilt and rage all mixed into one. He couldn't process anything at all. And then the rage. The rage took him over, and he knew no more.
