Just a quickie here, possibly a teaser to an upcoming world in Omega Ultra's "Lights and Shadows" fic.
Depending, this may or may not be canon to the actual fic, but nevertheless, read and review.
(At the Sonic Boom dimension)
Sonic, Amy and Knuckles walked around the beach of Bygone Island, Amy and Knuckles looking around before they noticed Sonic looking at the ground. "What is it, Sonic?" Amy asked.
"You know, we haven't seen Lyric for a while, and that got me thinking." Sonic remarked. "While we're living our lives in Bygone Island, what is he doing?"
"Probably nothing too major. That, or maybe something that will take him a long time to perform." Knuckles suggested, right before feeling something. "Did you feel that?"
Immediately after saying that, the ground started to shake as a portal opened in the sky, and from there the red color orb came out and hit the grounds, causing an explosion that sent the trio flying away as the portal closed itself. After recovering from the hit, the hedgehogs and echidna walked to the color orb and Sonic grabbed it.
"What is this thing?" Sonic asked as he scanned the color orb. "We need to show it to Tails, maybe he'll know what it is and where it came from."
Nodding in agreement, Team Sonic ran back, just in time for Lyric to make his appearance out of nowhere and laugh at the fleeting team. "At last, the time to execute my plan has come!" Lyric stated.
(Meanwhile, at the mirror dimension)
Mirror Knuckles, alongside the rest of Mirror Team Sonic... and Mirror Dave the Intern, were chasing a fleeing Mirror Eggman on his Octopus Bot. "You'll never catch me, Knuckles the Echidna!" Mirror Eggman shouted, right before noticing a portal opening in the sky. "Wait, what is that?!"
Suddenly, a green color orb came out of the portal and it hit the octopus bot, blowing it to pieces and sending Mirror Eggman flying away before it hit the ground. Mirror Team Sonic luckily managed to stop right before they hit it, and Knuckles grabbed it as the portal closed.
"Hmm, let's see."
Upon closer inspection, Knuckles flinched and showed it to the rest of the team.
"Team, this is more serious than I thought, what we have here is highly unstable energy from another reality altogether, shaped and encased in a sphere-like material form which can be used to unlock great power, but which might also cause great insanity to overcome and overpower our minds!"
"That's funny, I thought it was a green orb of power." Mirror Sonic obliviously stated.
"That's what it is, Sonic." Mirror Knuckles bluntly stated. "Come on, let's go back to the shack, we must find out more about this thing!"
The rest of Mirror Team Sonic agreed and ran back to their base, leaving just as a shadowy figure looked from behind the...well, shadows.
