"Jemma, come here for a moment." Leo Fitz said, holding out a hand as music began to play. Jemma Simmons smiled, taking his hand and letting him lead her out onto the open floor. Everyone else had training and things, so they knew they wouldn't be interrupted.
Leo brought Jemma close and they began to sway to the music, Jemma letting her head rest on Leo's shoulder. He put his cheek against her head and they stayed like that, dancing to the slow music.
Dancing together like this wasn't something they did incredibly often, they didn't really ever have the time, but they did enjoy it. It wasn't the dancing they enjoyed specifically, but the way she would lay her head on his shoulder, the way they could feel each other's heartbeat and how they'd part with each other's scent mingled and lingering on their clothes.
Today, though, things were a little different. Leo held on to Jemma just a bit tighter. Jemma inhaled his scent just a bit deeper. They held each other long after the song had finished, never wanting to let go.
"Jemma…" Leo started. He wasn't exactly where he was going to go with that. He had nearly lost her just a few days ago and he felt the need to let her know everything he was thinking since, especially because most of his thoughts were about her.
"It's okay, Fitzy." She said, knowing that he was likely becoming upset. He lightly kissed the top of her head, which was still resting gently on his shoulder.
"Jemma, I love you." Leo said quietly into her hair. Without hesitation, Jemma said it back.
"I love you too, Leo." she pulled away now, looking into his crystal blue eyes.
"You mean it?" he asked, uncertain but excited. Jemma made a bold move then, putting her hand on his face and pulling him close for a kiss. Not their first, but it was their most passionate.
"Yes, of course I do." She said, kissing him again. When she pulled away, they rested their foreheads together and Leo sighed.
"You can't ever scare me like that again. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." Leo said quietly. Jemma closed her eyes.
"I've always been beside you, remember? That's never gonna change."
