Disclaimer: As much as I'd love to own Naruto, I don't, so I guess I'll settle on fanfiction…
The night carried her on from branch to limb. Humid air carried the whispers of a forest asleep, almost lulling her as well. She shook her head to stay awake, and focused on the distance. Her destination was nonexistent, and her path undecided. She just wanted to help find Sasuke so Naruto would feel better. Now that he and Sakura had their early wedding, the only thing for her to do was help find his best friend.
Air rushed into her lungs and exited with a sigh. Memories of the past love always made her nostalgic, only adding to the weariness in her limbs. "I guess even Hyuugas aren't supposed to run for 23 hours straight. Or maybe it was 24?" A yawn followed the statement into the still air. She accepted her exhaustion, and stopped at the next large tree.
She pulled a small protein bar from her pack and lay down in the prodding grass to munch. She stretched happily until her extended arm hit something softer than bark, and warmer than rocks. With a yelp she drew it back and sat up to look. There, lying next to her pack was the avenger himself, sleeping peacefully under his cloak. Funny how even he didn't wake up when poked.
Thoughts drifted through her hazy mind. "I mustn't let him get away" she muttered, as she spread herself out next to him. One pale hand snaked another, as if a relaxed grip could stop him if he wanted to leave. It made sense in her tired mind, so why shouldn't it work? A final yawn indicated sleep's victory…
As always, reviews are awesome. They make me feel happy, and hopefully make you feel important, 'cause you are. This chapter was a lot shorter than I had hoped, but I didn't know what to add. Any ideas?
