//It's your destiny Pure heart destiny//

"We're going to kill you, you know."

"I know."

"I'm sorry; I can't do anything about it."

"I know."

"I tried, honest, I did."

He nodded; she hugged him tightly.

"I didn't want it to end like this," she said, feeling the beginning of tears. "There is a real person in you, behind all this madness. I can tell, I can tell."

"It's not your fault," he replied, stroking her hair, and brushing away her tears. He gently lifted her face so that his eyes could gaze into hers. Emerald green staring into deep brown.

"One day, we'll be together."

"Why not now," she whispered, sadly.

She remembered the first time she met him.........

[flashback]

She was only fourteen, but she was mature beyond that. She had already left home, although she wouldn't admit it was more like running away, and she was traveling around, looking for interesting people to talk to. Currently, she was in a small town called Costa Del Sol.

Actually, not in the town, but in one of the little outskirt cafes.

The little café was rather crowded, though.

"Excuse me, may I sit here?" asked a man. He looked to be about only 18, could even pass for 16, but there was an aura of maturity around this man.

"Sure, no one's planning on sitting there," she said. She was sitting on one of the five stools near the back of the café.

At first she hadn't meant to talk to him that much, but she found he was a really interesting guy to talk to.

"I'm a ninja," she said, "What do you do?"

"I kill people," he said shortly, and for a brief moment there was something like sorrow in his eyes. She felt herself instantly wanting to hold him, even though he was at least five inches tall than herself, and much bigger.

"Why?" she asked. She didn't mean, 'why are you so stupid to do that,' but 'why is it your decision to do that?'

"Because it was what I was told to do."

She blinked. "Oh. I'm sorry."

"You're sorry?" He said, wonderingly. "Why?"

"Because you don't want to kill, I can see it in your eyes."

Now it was his turn to blink. "How old are you anyway?" he asked. "Eighteen?"

She giggled, "No, I'm only fourteen. Well, about a month off from fifteen, really."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah."

"You don't look that young."

"How old are you?"

"Twenty one."

"You don't look that old," she replied.

He had had to go then, and indeed, he left without giving her his name, nor did she give him hers.

She just remembered his face.

[End flashback]

"It's not fair," She burst out, "First people shunned us because you were older than me, and then people shunned you because of what happened to you!"

He held her now, whispering to calm her, "It's alright, it's alright."

Instantly she was back to crying, "I don't want to see you die, I don't want to see you dead," she muttered over and over, "And it's my fault!"

"No, it's not. It would have happened no matter what. Just be strong, and don't worry."

"I can't bear to see you...you...die..." she whispered haltingly, with ragged sobs. "I'll kill myself knowing that I helped!" she wailed.

"Don't," he said, "Live for me. Live each day for me, so that when you come, you'll be able to tell me everything about a life I never had."

They embraced again, and kissed deeply.

She turned and left, her short brown hair in her eyes. A picture of him with his silver gray hair shining in the light of the mako down in the earth was the last picture she ever wanted to remember of him.

//It's your destiny//

"Good-bye...Sephiroth..." Yuffie whispered.
