This was just something goofy that infiltrated my brain at the football game last week. Can you guess what inspired it? :p

I can always hear the drums.

It's a fact of life.

No matter what,

No matter when,

I can hear the drums.

--

It's competition day,

It's time to perform.

Horns up, breathe, play.

But above all of the band,

I can hear the drums.

--

Whether they're back field,

Or right up front.

Whether the winds are silent,

Or loud.

I can hear the drums.

--

Occasionally they have an off day,

And the snares fall behind.

The band phases,

Forms collapse.

Still I hear the drums.

--

During halftime,

The other band performs.

They face the visitor sideline,

Perform to their fans.

But I can hear their drums.

--

The rainy days do come sometimes,

Making playing outside impossible.

Crammed into the band room,

With the entire band inside,

I can definitely hear the drums.

--

When kids are trying to take a nap,

Sprawled on a few band room chairs,

Ideas infiltrate mischievous minds.

They creep up behind those sleeping,

And I can hear the drums.

--

When the band is at a football game,

And is seated in the stands.

When the percussion sits right behind me,

And they're playing in my ear,

I can REALLY hear the drums.

--

It's always a treat to hear the drums,

Although it is quite deafening.

And somehow, I kind of get the feeling

That the day might come,

When I won't hear the drums.

Reviews make me smile!
