This idea popped into my head and refused to go away until I wrote it.
Disclaimer:I don't own Bones.
She observed Booth and Brennan at the platform where they were talking about the case. Brennan was explaining that the victim had a bone disease that made it more difficult to determine the age, but she figured it out because she is the best forensic anthropologist without having to go to Canada. Booth looked at her intently as she talked, listening to what ever might help him get a warrant. The two of them had been acting differently towards each other, Angela mused. Angela couldn't help but wonder if something had happened between them recently. Their behavior was dramatically different from the day they had gone to see Sweets for their weekly appointment. Had Booth finally professed his love for her and Brennan had rejected him? She considered it as she continued monitoring them from her office. I highly doubt Booth would admit his feelings, she thought, besides she would have heard about it if he had.
She felt a pang of sadness as she watched them talk and heard Booth laughing about a joke. His eyes lit up as he laughed and Brennan's mouth transformed into a grin. They were and would always be just partners, she realized using their trademark line. They would have told her first if they had gotten together because she was Brennan's best friend. Booth said his goodbyes and sauntered away from the platform, probably with the knowledge he needed to get his warrant. Brennan followed his steps until he was out of view. Angela caught a look of regret on her friend's face, but the look lasted only a moment before the anthropologist returned her focus to the bones that were laid out.
Angela prayed silently that they would come to their senses and just get together already. Perhaps it was fate that brought their partnership together, but they were soul mates even if they were denying their feelings for each other.
