Fiyero sat in the back of the science classroom. He looked up at the clock over the chalkboard. There was still 10 minutes left before the classes of the day were over. He sighed and let his head fall to the teacher started talking about photosynthesis. Suddenly, his head shot up. He had an idea! The bell rang, and Fiyero dashed out of the room. He stopped by his dorm, dropped off his books, and rushed to Galinda's dorm. With any luck, he would find Elphaba there. He knocked loudly on the door. Footsteps could be heard inside, then, a frustrated voice belonging to a certain green girl responded.
"Fiyero, go away." He stood outside the door. A few moments passed in silence than she shot back "I said, GO AWAY!"
"Come on Elphaba. let me in. Please?" Fiyero begged.
Suddenly, the voice on the other side was joined by Elphaba's bubbly blonde roommate.
"Let him in Elphie!"
The door swung open, and Fiyero saw Elphaba sitting on her bed, scowling, and Galinda standing in the doorway, smiling happily.
"Elphaba, follow me."
"Fiyero, under no circumstances would I EVER follow you, anywhere!"
Fiyero grabbed her arm and drug her outside. She dragged her feet in protest, but eventually followed him.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see!"
Fiyero drug her out into the sunshine of a vacant lot behind Shiz that barely anyone even ventured into.
"During science today, the teacher said-"
"Wait, you remember what a teacher said during class? That's a first"
"I don't need your rude remarks. Anyways, the teacher said the we can't photosynsize"
"Photosynthesize?"
"whatever. Anyways, he said we can't because we aren't green. So, i was wondering-"
"Fiyero, are you thinking what I think you are?"
"Do you photosynthesize?"
"No."
"Are you sure? you're green and-"
"Yes, I noticed."
"And green things photosynthesize."
"Not every green thing photosynthesizes."
"You sure?"
"Positive." And with that, the green girl stormed away.
"There goes my science project..."
