My interpretation of the Events on Sonny: So Far

"Three."

Neither of them spoke.

After a moment of torturous silence, Chad began gesturing with his hands and eventually, words came with the gestures. "I—Okay—I have feelings, you know, feelings—"

Sonny found her voice and spoke up too— "And I have feelings too!"

They gazed at each other for a moment. Neither quite had words to express what they wanted. Chad, though feeling shy for perhaps only the second or third time in his life, found himself speaking first again. He was used to getting what he wanted. The experience with Sonny had been the most unpredictable, but now, it seemed a done deal. They were both smiling widely, despite their silence. "Look, then, I guess— Should we just go back out there and throw it in Gilroy's face? You know, he can't hassle us if we just admit it."

Sonny fiddled with her fingers, "Well… we could, but…"

"I'm sorry, did you say 'but'?" Chad replied. He wasn't be rude. He was startled. "What's that mean? What do you mean? We like each other Sonny, we are even still talking about this? Aren't we… like… together or something? I put on the weird beard, I went to your prom— We kissed on your fake date! Sonny, what do mean 'but'?" Wasn't the word 'but' usually the beginning of rejection?

"Chad, we didn't kiss, I put my hand over your mouth," Sonny corrected.

"Well, what, should we kiss now?" Chad asked, confused.

"No Chad!" Sonny exclaimed, just hear me out.

"Well, it's hard when you're making such a happy moment kind of stressful." His eyes went wide and pierced her.

"Will you please listen to me?" Sonny asked, she reached out and put a hand on his shoulder. "Look, I like you, but this, is not going to work out. You saw Gilroy, just accusing us of liking each other. We'd get ripped apart. Even my mom told me when we first got here that I couldn't date any Hollywood guys… And I— I don't think I could handle being Chad Dylan Cooper's girlfriend. I just, I don't think it's a good idea."

"And we work together, sort of," Chad added, pensively. "But Munroe, would it be a good idea… ever?" he was fishing for something, his heart was sinking.

"Maybe later, but I just got my break, and you—" Sonny didn't know what he was. How could you describe him? He was Chad Dylan Cooper, CDC, Greatest Actor of their generation, and more.

"Nah, I understand Munroe," Chad replied. "That makes sense. I'll be fine. I'm worried about yous what I'm worried about." Oh classic Chad Dylan Cooper, reversing a situation that made him emotional uncomfortable

"Thank you," Sonny said. "I'm sorry… it's hard to say that to someone you know you… you like… but that was so much easier to say than I thought it would be."

Sonny and Chad stood there a moment, oblivious to the camera that was above them. Sonny and Chad looked apologetically at one another. Sonny made sense, and Chad wasn't about to fight it. Where did this leave them? They'd have to get over each other even though they weren't dating. Sonny nodded to him and walked away.

Chad stood there a moment longer, looking at the floor. They'd go out there and say, "Gilroy, our lives are none of your business. So you think there's something going here maybe there is, maybe there isn't. If we want to tell you we'll tell you. So good night and good bye." Then they'd grab Tawni, and they'd go home and try to sleep the awful night off.

Author's Note: I am lead to believe this, because you'd think they'd have a more… enthusiastic reaction to telling each other their feelings. I don't think Sonny would be so solemn, nor would Chad be standing alone and Sonny walking away from him the way she did. Also, if they just told each other, what would the show do with that plot? The writers' will get waaaaay more mileage out of keeping Sonny and Chad apart, and it'll stay interesting for us viewers.
