The zoo? If anyone even mentions those words anymore I don't feel the longing to go back there. Even after seeing all those smiling faces, the cheering, and the happiness I spread when I roar. I am Alex, and I am now part of the circus.
"Goodbye, Penguins!" Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman and the rest of the circus gang yell. After the penguins had applied for an international spy training school in London, they were off. Of course, no one had any ideas on how they would blend in, how they would become spies in the same environment of human beings, but obviously – the Penguins must have had a plan. They always do… but Skipper, Kowalski, Private and Rico are another story, I guess…
"So, Trapeze Americano… want to practice?" Alex asked Gia.
"We have practiced many times, Alex. How does pizza sound?" She replied, giggling.
"Good, actually. Have I ever mentioned that you are beautiful?" The lion said with a flirty smile.
Gia just burst into laughter. "Come to think of it, you have mentioned that only about 100 times this week!" And they both left the room for dinner.
Later that evening, everyone was crowded round a small TV in the circus dressing room. Marty flicked over to the news.
"Hey, wonder if we have managed to be on a recent top story?" Marty said, jokingly. To everyone's surprise, Marty had guessed rightly.
"And now, New York's Top Story: The Zoo wants Alex! Kids all over New York are hunting for the Lion, Zebra, Giraffe and Hippopotamus that went missing years ago without a trace. Just last week, they were sighted in the New York Central Park Zoo. They must be here somewhere, and the zoo's popularity is decreasing. Believe me, the owners of the zoo are willing to do anything – and I mean anything, to get them all back."
The shocked animals were mixed up with excitement, shock and fear.
"Wow…Guys… It looks as though we're going to have a chase on our hands."
