Looking down at her for the first time with a smile on my face thinking about the hope she bought to us. Here we are two step-sibling looking at our parents who stare back with such loving and longing eyes, wishing they got off easy the way we did.
Recce looked down at me and I immediately understood, he was as grateful as I am that everyone happened the way it, that we didn't have to make any sacrifices that no one should have to, yet many people do just like our parents did.
"Let me see my granddaughter, or I'll just have to come back at night and kidnap her." Derek joked as he made the way over to the hospital bed sending soft simultaneous laughter across the room.
"Spacey, come have a look she's beautiful."
"Let me just go the kids."
When she came back Derek was still holding the tiny buddle in his arms and the other teens went over to welcome their niece into the world. After everything quieted down it was surprisingly Recce who asked in a low almost shy voice.
"Can you please tell us how you two got together again? Please?"
"Sure, everybody get comfy" Mum said. And with all the 'kids' crammed onto the bed with us, so as you can probably tell this isn't our story-for now- it's theirs.
