Prepping For Baby
"Alright Jacks, where would you like the crib to be?" Nick asked her.
They were setting up the baby's nursery and all of Nick's friends from the lab were nice enough to come over and help.
The baby's room was painted a light blue color and then Jackie, Sara, and Catherine had used stencils to put cute brown teddy bears on the freshly painted walls. Then when they were finished the guys moved in the furniture, the only thing left was to decide where to put the crib.
"Let's put it along that wall over there." Jackie said as she pointed to one of the walls.
Nick, with Greg's help picked up the crib and placed it where Jackie had wanted it.
"How's that?" Nick asked.
"That's perfect, I think we are done. What do you think Nicky?" She asked.
"I agree, I think it looks great." He told her.
"Thanks for all your guy's help, why don't we get cleaned up and then meet a little later for dinner, it'll be mine and Nick's treat." Jackie told all of their friends.
"Thanks, that sounds great, although you don't have to do that." Greg said.
Everyone else agreed.
"It's our pleasure." Nick told them.
Finally everyone agreed.
They decided to meet up in about an hour at one of the group's favorite dinner spots.
Once they reached the restaurant Jackie looked over the children's menu.
"Alright guys, you can have a piece of pizza, chicken strips, or a cheeseburger, which one would you like?" Jackie asked the kids.
All of the kids wanted a cheeseburger, until Jackie got to Karlie that is.
"Cake." Karlie replied.
Jackie laughed.
"Cake was not on the list kiddo." Jackie told her.
"Cake." She insisted.
"Just get her a cheeseburger please." Jackie said with a shake of her head.
The waitress chuckled as she walked away to go place all the orders to the kitchen.
"I think Karlie and Sloan can share don't you Nicky?" Jackie asked.
"Yeah, they won't eat a whole one." He agreed.
Everyone had fun laughing and joking with one another while waiting for their food.
After they had finished lunch and gone home the kids wandered into the baby's nursery.
"Baby?" Karlie asked, as she looked all over the room, including under the crib.
"Guys the baby isn't here yet, he's still in here." Jackie told them with a laugh as she pointed to her tummy.
"Toys." Johnna said as she opened an adorable toy box that Jill had sent for the baby.
"There's no toys in there yet, we should get some toys to put in there huh?" Jackie told her.
"Yeah." Johnna said before walking out of the room.
She came back moments later with one of her toys in her hand. She dropped the toy in the toy box.
"Oh Johnna, that is so nice of you sweetheart, giving your baby brother one of your toys so his toy box won't be empty." Jackie praised.
"Me do too." Jasmine said as she too walked out of the room.
"Me." Houston said as she followed his sister.
Karlie and Sloan soon followed their lead and walked out of the room.
Pretty soon each of the kids came back with a toy.
They dropped it in the toy box, except for Sloan, instead of dropping the toy in the toy box he walked over to Jackie and lifted up her shirt and shoved the stuffed animal he had under her shirt.
"No Sone, in dere." Jasmine told him as she pointed at the toy box.
Sloan looked at her as if to say The baby isn't in there, he's in here so why would I put it in the toy box?
Jackie laughed.
"Here kiddo, put it in here." She said as she took his hand and led him over to the toy box.
Sloan pointed in the box.
"Yep, put it in there." Jackie directed.
Sloan dropped the stuffed animal in there and then clapped his hands as if what he did was magic and he did so with the sweetest grin on his face.
"Yay." The whole family cheered as they clapped with him.
After that it was time for the kids' bath and then bedtime.
When they had all been put to bed Nick looked around the house for Jackie but he couldn't find her.
"Jacks?" He called fairly softly so he wouldn't wake the kids.
"In here hon." She called back.
He found her in the nursery, sitting in the rocking chair reading a book.
"It really is cute in here isn't it?" She asked him with a smile.
"Yeah it turned out really nice." He responded.
She smiled broadly at him.
"Want to watch some TV before hitting the hay?" He asked her.
"Sure, let me finish this page." She said as she nodded towards the book.
"Ok." He said with a smile before leaving the room.
After Jackie had finished the page in her book she stood up slowly and before leaving the room she looked around and smiled. In only one more month the most important piece of the nursery would be added.
The End!
