A/N This is a oneshot. I wrote it just because I was angry and had to write to get me relax, because of that, there is a dark tone on this story. I hope you like it.

English is NOT my first language and because of that not perfect. A/N

Without you

Willow woke up as the sun was rising over District 12. The smell of freshly made bread was spreading around the house, her father was making breakfast. She putted on a pair of black loose pants, a gray blouse and her black jacket. She brushed her dark hair and putted it up in a ponytail before going out to the kitchen. Her mother was sitting at the table together with her brother Rye while her dad was making breakfast, as every morning, but today was different. It was Rye's tenth birthday today, Willow herself, was fifteen.

"Good morning everybody, happy birthday Rye." said Willow as she sat down beside her mother.
"Thanks Willow, and good morning to you too." said Rye and smiled. Willow loved to see her brother smile, he made everyone happy, no matter were he went. Everyone in the district loved him because he was simply himself. Rye was sweet and innocent and would never hurt somebody while Willow herself was a hunter like her mother. Her father was ready with the breakfast and gave everybody a piece of bread. Willow took some butter and some cheese on it before eating it while her brother took some squirrel-meat on his piece of bread.

"Are you liking the bread? It's a new recipe that I came up with." said their father and Willow nodded along with her brother.
"What are we going to do today?" asked Rye.
"That's up to you, but Effie and Haymitch is going to visit later." said their mother and Rye nodded.

"I want to play boardgames and then eat my favorite dish for dinner." said Rye.
"Okay, boardgames it is, and you are going to get a cake after dinner but I'm not sure if you can have your favorite dish, I'll have to hunt." said their mother and Rye shook his head.

"No mom, I want you here, not in the forest." said Rye.

"But how are we getting meat for the dish then?" asked their father.

"I can go, I'm a hunter too." said Willow and her mother nodded.

"Okay Willow, but be back before dusk." said her mother and Willow nodded and went up to her room to get her bow and her arrows. After that, she went outside and walked away to the forest. She meet a few citizens and greeted them all. Not many people lived in the district, her mother told her that almost everyone died during the war, but now people started to move here, mostly old citizens that had been living in District 13 for a while. After a while, she was at the fence and she went outside in the wood, it wasn't illegal to go outside the fences anymore but not many people did it anyway because of the possible dangers. After a few minutes of walking, she started to look for evidence that an animal had been near. She knew that today's hunt wouldn't be easy, Rye's favorite dish was deer steak, and deers was extremely rare in this area, but she did it because he was her brother, and because of that, she was going to track down a deer, she had to. As she walked, she heard mockingjays sing and that made her smile, they were her favorite bird. Besides the sound of mockingjays, the forest was completely quite, it was like stepping into another world, she didn't know if that was a good or bad thing but she didn't care, she felt free in the forest, but it was to quite even for this forest, she felt like something was not right, and she had a feeling that something terrible was about to happen. Then she saw it, a hovercraft flying high up in the sky, in the direction of District 12, it didn't look like a normal hovercraft, it looked dangerous and it looked like something was attached to it, some kind of bomb.
"This isn't good." she said to herself as the panic spread across her body, she had to get home, to warn everybody from the possible danger. She started to run, she forgot about everything, about the deer, about her brothers birthday, about the possible danger she is putting herself into, everything that mattered was that she had to warn her family. When she was only about a minute or two from the fence she heard it, the noise of something exploding. She stayed, she was shocked, what if they didn't make it? No she can't think that, of course they managed it, but why did she doubt? Her heart said that they were alive but her brain said no. She listened to her heart and started to run again but stopped again at the fence. The hovercraft was flying away, no longer carrying the bomb. She went back into the district and started to run, she was shutting everything out. Around her she saw dead bodies, running people, crying people, wounded people and destroyed houses. As she came closer and closer to the town, there were more dead bodies and a less amount och living people. Everything around her was destroyed, and it was fire. She heard cries around her, but didn't care. She came to Victors' Village and saw that the houses was burned to the ground and there was stones everywhere. She was running around, trying to look for her family in panic, she had lost almost all her hopes when he heard a voice.

"Willow." The voice was quite, it was like a whisper and she knew who's voice that was, her mothers. She turned around and saw a woman lying besides a big stone with something underneath it. She slowly walked to her mother, her face was covered in blood and right leg was under the big stone, it was a stone from her house. This turned on her feelings again.
"Mom, what happened? Where is dad and Rye?" asked Willow as the panic became stronger.
"Under the stone." said her mother and the next second, Willow was running around the stone, she saw a big arm sticking out from it, her fathers arm, and she saw Rye's upper body. Rye was still alive, but all his bones from his lover body was crushed, and he was bleeding. Hos eyes were wide open and he took small fast breaths. She saw that he tried to stay alive, but he got almost no air into his lungs, in a few minutes, her brother is going to be dead. The day that started so well, it was meant to be his tenth birthday, not the day he dies. She felt her tears streaming down her cheeks and she tried to keep calm, she talked to Rye to keep him calm, that was what she thought. In reality she was trying to calm herself down.

"It's okay Rye, everything is going to be okay. You don't have to be afraid, when you're dead there will be no more pain, and you'll going to be together with dad, and you'll be an angel. You'll be the most beautiful of them all with your blonde hair and gray eyes. And later, I'm going to come to, and mom to and we'll play together everyday." she said. She knew that it wasn't true, but what could she do? She saw her brother take his last breath and she kissed him on the cheek as she cried and went back to her mother, hoping she was still alive. She saw her mother, hurt but still breathing.

"Kill me." she heard her mother whisper to her.

"What, I can't do that!" she yelled in surprise and sadness.
"Willow... I've lost my leg... I'll do sooner or later, but... I don't... want it to take hours. I … don't want it... to be painful."

"But mom, what am I going to do?"

"Run... forest, they are... coming back."

"But how am I going to survive without you?

"District 13." She nodded and took a deep breath as she took up her knife, she was not going to let her mother feel anymore pain. She cried more than before, and said it.

"I love you." She held the knife high and she heard her mother.

"Thanks." she whispered and closed her eyes. Willow stabbed her own mother were her heart should be. She heard a small cry, and then nothing. Her mother wasn't breathing anymore. It was then that she realized it, she killed her mother. She stayed by the corpses for a few hours, the only thing she did was crying. She wanted to kill herself, then she wouldn't be alone, but she remembered her mothers words. They were going to come back and she had to go to the forest to survive. She went away from her family after one last look before going. She saw people going the same way as her, the other survivors. She still had her bow and she would make it all the way to District 13. Before getting under the fence, she looked back one last time and said.

"It won't be the same without you, but I'll manage it, for you."
