Abby woke from another restless sleep, as she did many days now. She pulled in her clothes and her jewelry too, for a while she obsessively brushed her teeth. After her morning routine she headed out to work.
She had her Caf-Pow! in hand and was ready for the day.
There was a case today! After a boring week there was a case! Yes! Anyway she desperately needed a new way to ignore her problems- today her main problem that had been eating at her for a while was how she almost died... again and her sister still didn't know.
She dosed off for a bit, dreaming of why she first met them.
--FLASHBACK --
12 year old, Abby Scuito, and her parents were going out for dinner at the time of the tragedy. They were celebrating her father's return from deployment in baghdad. They were eating as suddenly a person came in, wearing a mask and armed with a gun.
"Put your hands up!" The intruder says, "I swear I will shoot!" This was directed at her mom. Her mom didn't put her hands up.
Her mom being deaf as well as having her back turned didn't realize it. Her dad was in the bathroom.
They both ended up with a few rounds in them neither surviving. The last things they said- well and signed by her mother gloria- were, "Goodbye abbs," and, "Love you."
The young Abby just watched in horror as her parents were slowly dying before her eyes
Both Abby's parents were without any family so Abby was put in foster care...
--FLASHBACK CONCLUDED--
A familiar ding went off snapping her back to today.
Major mass spec got his results back - 'shocking ' petty officer Mark Leersons' blood was found on his dead body.
She was not having a good day .
