Songs of the Heart! Michiru's Foray into Irish Music

Author's Note: this story is based on a fanfic meme posted on a friend's Livejournal. She provided ten prompts, all of which were book titles, asked readers to choose a prompt, and write a fic based on it from a chosen fandom. I chose '100 Irish Ballads', and the Sailor Moon fandom. This is the result.

Usagi Tsukino had just spectacularly failed her maths test and was crying her little eyes out. "My mom's gonna kill me! And Shingo will laugh and call me 'Baka Usagi' again!" she wailed.

Luna, her faithful cat, rolled her eyes and resisted the urge to scratch her owner, and was about to offer some advice when Ami, Makoto and Minako appeared. "Hey, Usagi-chan! Look what we've got!" crowed Minako.

"What?"

"Tickets to see Michiru-sama in concert! She's going to be playing selections from 100 Irish Ballads - you know, the concept album by the Three Lights?" said Minako breathlessly. "I saw Haruka-sama earlier and she was raving about She Moves Through The Fair. Said it made her cry. And Setsuna-sama's guesting on bodhran for The Wild Rover."

"I don't like the Three Lights' version of The Star Of The County Down, I must say," said Ami thoughtfully. "The Pogues did it better..."

"Shane McGowan reminds me of my ex-boyfriend," sighed Makoto.

"EVERYONE reminds you of your bloody ex-boyfriend, Mako-chan," scoffed Usagi.

Later...

Michiru Kaiou finished The Fields Of Athenry to deafening applause from the students of Juuban High School. Who knew that Japanese people would like Irish music so much, she thought. Her arm was killing her, but it had been worth it, and from the look in her girlfriend's eyes, she knew Haruka would be treating her tonight...

After schmoozing with Haruka and Michiru, the girls all went down the local karaoke bar and got drunk...and Usagi made her friends' ears bleed when she decided to sing Danny Boy.

"I'd rather be chased by Professor Tomoe's nastiest Daimons - while having my dream mirror extracted by the Amazon Trio - than listen to this shit again," Rei Hino muttered viciously.

"Same here," concurred Makoto. "You know, Tiger's Eye reminds me of my ex-boyfriend..."
