Jealousy

She hadn't looked at him in the eye post their breakup of a six month relationship.

Dean thought she had got over him pretty quickly. He had accepted the fact that she was going out with someone else but that didn't stop him from feeling jealous sometimes.

He was sitting in the common room, completing his essay when he saw her.

She climbed in through the portrait hole, wincing slightly.

The bruise on her forehead looked quite nasty. The common room was crowded and she was instantly surrounded by fellow Gryffindors asking her what the matter was.

Dean watched her as she tried to tell people that she was alright and there was no need to make such a fuss.

"She looks beautiful even with the bruise" thought Dean.

He was thinking of going over and asking her if she was alright when, much to his dismay, he saw a boy with green eyes, messy hair and a lightning scar on his forehead, make his way towards her.

Having half - risen from his chair, Dean sat down, scowling.

Dean saw her face lit with a smile as her eyes met the green ones. The crowd parted as the messy haired boy reached her.

'Are you okay? What happened? I heard something about the Slytherin's while coming back from Snape's office' he said.

She merely nodded. 'I am fine. Yeah, we had a spat with yhe Slytherin's. But all is fine now.'

'Who did that to you?' he asked checking her bruise.

'Pansy Parkinson' she replied angrily.

Dean watched the messy haired boy mutter obscenities under his breath and making infutile attempts to detach himself from her grasp.

"Ha! As if he was really going to have a go at Parkinson. Show off!" thought Dean.

'Leave it. I have already played my part. She must be getting treated at the Hospital wing' she said to him and at last he stopped struggling.

'Speaking of the Hospital Wing, you need to get that bruise treated as well. We are going to Madam Pomfrey' said the messy haired boy.

Her expressions told him that she didn't want to go but eventually she agreed and nodded.

Dean saw the messy haired boy wrap his arm around her and they walked away.

The messy haired boy had been his good friend. But Dean didn't know why he felt so angry with him at that moment. He watched them walk away but his anger reached its peak when he saw the messy haired boy offer her his hand to help her through the portrait hole, to which she didn't object.

"Honestly! How many times had she been angry with him, whenever he, Dean had helped her through the portrait hole?" he thought.
"This was so unfair!"

He hated being ignored by her like that. She had not even glanced in his direction. They would have got back together again. He would have apologised to her only if... only if that stupid messy haired boy hadn't kissed her the day Gryffindor won the Quidditch Cup.

Too bad he wouldn't get whatever he desired. Because that Harry Potter always got all those things he wanted and Ginny Weasley was one of those.

END.
