I wasn't your average brony.
I wasn't just obsessed with "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"; I loved it. Not in the clopper sort of love, but more like yearning. I set my heart on being with them, being happy in Equestria. Every night before I went to bed, I would look out my window and wish that when I woke up, I'd be in the magical land of Equestria. I would be free to explore the world with my pony friends and go on amazing adventures.
One morning, my prayers came true. I was ecstatic to discover that I was no longer in my bed. I was outside in a brightly-lit landscape. The clouds overhead were puffy and swirled in a bizarre fashion. The grass was bright green and was covered with the beautifulest of flowers. At first I thought it was a prank or something until I saw my first pony. It was a 3D and realistic version of the 2D technicolor ponies I saw on TV. I recognized the pony as Berry Punch. There was no denying it; I was in Equestria.
The feeling was complete euphoria. It was the same as a Whovian finding themselves on the TARDIS or a Pokémon fanatic waking up in Professor Oak's lab and being asked to choose a starter. Only with ponies.
I smiled for the first time in what seemed like forever, a wide stretched-out grin ripping my face in half. I felt like dancing around and screaming at the top of my lungs. A crowd of ponies began to gather around. I actually pinched myself to be assured it wasn't a dream. I didn't wake up, so I know it was real.
The real Equestria… I couldn't believe it.
The crowd of ponies around me began murmuring. I called out a greeting "Hello!", and prepared to introduce myself. All the ponies in the crowd looked completely surprised and most moved back. I began to get the feeling something was wrong. The crowd parted and I recognized Twilight Sparkle coming toward me. She opened her mouth and began to talk.
All I heard were various horse sounds.
Neighs, whinnies, and the occasional snort. I couldn't understand anything. She looked at me as though waiting for a response. I tried to tell her I couldn't understand, but she just cocked her head to the side as though confused. Twilight made more horse sounds. I saw Rainbow Dash swoop down from a cloud and talk to Twilight in a few whinnies. Twilight responded in a neigh. The feeling that something was wrong developed into full panic.
I'm still trapped in Equestria. None of the ponies can understand me. Whenever I walk down the street, they move away from me in fright. It isn't at all what I was expecting. Now, every night, I look into the pony-made night sky and I wish that I can go home. That when I go to sleep that night I'd wake up in my old bed.
But my wishes never come true.
