Disclaimer: Unfortunately, the characters and concept are not mine. If they were, I would have kept Maggie in…
Author's note: Seeing as Dr. Maggie Doyle is one of my favorite characters that has ever passed through the doors of the County General Hospital Emergency Room, I decided to open a second fanfiction.
This story has been 'in progress' for a very long time, maybe posting it here will push me to finish it some day.
To see if anyone likes the story, here is the first chapter!
Prologue: The moment Dr. Maggie Doyle entered the Emergency Room, a lot changed. Lets take a look how the woman that spiced things up, experienced her years at Cook County General.
ER- Maggie Doyle's story.
"Damn, this is nothing like Southside" thought Maggie Doyle when she entered the County General ER.
The note she had received a few days after the closure of Southside said she had to go see Dr. Kerry Weaver.
"Weaver.." she mumbled, while she walked up to the admitting desk.
The only person that seemed to work at the desk was a tall man in his late twenties, writing down some stuff on paper.
"Hey"
The man didn't reply,
and Maggie took a closer look at his nametag.
"Hey, Jerry?"
she tried, and the man looked up surprised.
"Yeah, that's me. How may I help you?"
Maggie could just feel his eyes checking her out, she raised her eyebrow but didn't say anything about it.
She hated this kind of situations.
"I'm looking for
Dr. Kerry Weaver?" she held up the note.
"Weaver? Yeah, she's
in trauma one. And who are-?"
"Thank you" interrupted Maggie his last sentence, and turned around.
The time that took her to walk to the trauma room, she looked around.
The ER was really busy, everywhere she looked there were doctors and nurses running around.
Carts with medicines stood in the hallway, and there was a man sleeping on a gurney.
She reached the trauma room, and peered inside.
Dr. Weaver seemed to be in the middle of closing a trauma, because she took of her gloves.
Maggie waited patiently, and leaned against the wall.
"-And Haleh, make sure Peter reports the outcome to me" a loud voice yelled to a nurse who walked out of the trauma room with a gurney.
Then the screamer came out of the room, it was a red-haired woman who was limb in one leg.
"Are you Kerry Weaver?" Maggie stepped up to her, and held out her hand.
"Yes, I am. You must be Margaret Doyle from Southside?" said Kerry, and shook her hand.
Maggie nodded.
"We're glad to have you, we can always settle for an extra pair of hands" she smiled, but looked worried.
"You're a bit early, so I don't have time to give you the grand tour, but I'll introduce you to a few staff members. And then you can go to the meeting"
Maggie was glad to have met Kerry, although she seemed a bit strange to her.
The strictness in her voice, her attitude and the way she looked at her were enough to know she was a tough woman.
No one to mess with.
Before Maggie could answer her, Kerry walked up to two other doctors, Maggie had no choice but to follow her.
"Susan, Mark I want you to meet Margaret Doyle, our new intern from Southside"
"Maggie" said Maggie quickly, she didn't like the name Margaret all that much.
"Hi" said the woman called Susan, who was in the middle of eating a sandwich and tried hard to speak as clean as possible.
"Nice to meet you" greeted Mark Greene, smiling at her.
Maggie's first impression had been pretty damn good.
