19 YEARS LATER

As Harry and Ginny rushed their 3 children along the platform, they spotted the others. Harry waved at Draco and Cho, who were fussing over their son, a first year. Harry and Draco hadn't been friends when they'd first met, but despite the house rivalry and the confusion of their peers, they had been solid friends since the day Draco had followed Quirrell down the trapdoor and saved Harry from Voldemort himself. Of course, no one else knew that this had happened. Draco had made Harry swear to keep it a secret. It wasn't until years later that Harry discovered the reason was that Draco's father had dabbled with the death eaters. Draco would have been disowned if his father had any idea he was fighting against the Dark Lord.

It was Harry who'd accidentally introduced Draco to Cho. Draco was supposed to befriend Cho and guide her towards Harry, who'd had a crush on her for the 4 years they'd been at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, Draco ended up falling for Cho too and after months of bickering, when it was clear they were perfect for each other; Harry was forced to let it go. Little did he know the love of his life was right in front of him, as he had stayed at the Weasley's every summer since he was 11.

Hermione and Ron had been dating since second year and Draco, being a bit of a lady's man, had had a steady stream of girlfriends throughout the years before Cho. Harry was starting to feel like a third wheel, whoever he was with. This was how, one weekend when his friends had gone on a double date, Harry ended up spending his night with Ginny. They had drunk a bit too much butterbeer when Ginny took Harry's hand and confessed her feelings for him. That was the moment Harry realised that the reason he felt so protective over Ginny – the reason he'd gone into the Chamber of Secrets to rescue her – was not because she was his best friends sister, or because he felt she had become almost a sister to him too, but because he felt a strange pull towards her. As if he had to be close to her. As if they were two halves of the same whole. To begin with they had kept their romance a secret, unsure of what Ron would think, but as the months rolled by and it became more and more obvious to their friends, as much as they tried to hide it, Ron confessed that Hermione had talked him into arranging the double date, so that Harry and Ginny would be forced together. She'd seen the way Ginny looked at him. They were perfect for each other, she'd said. She'd been right.

Harry didn't know how Ginny had coped with all Harry's run-ins with Voldemort and various other dark wizards, but she'd always been there waiting when he returned. Ready to comfort when Sirius died, ready to nurse when he came home injured, and ready to listen when Harry had one of those dreams, or couldn't get passed a particularly traumatic event. Since the drunken evening in fourth year, they'd been through thick and thin. A few months after the last battle, the defeat of Voldemort and the death of her brother Fred, on the day of Ron and Hermione's wedding, Harry had proposed. They were married six months later. Draco had been best man.

Harry reflected on their time at Hogwarts as they stood on the platform with Draco, Cho, Ron and Hermione, hoping that the next 6 years would be a lot more peaceful, but just as enjoyable for their own children.
