i painted.

beauty beyond beauty

poised and

perfect in an

insufficient glory

running brushstroke fingers

through silver tinted hair

i painted.

jealousy in tendrils

like a fist around my

beating heart

bleeding need for

soft dark eyes

soulless caressing

my tear-stained cheeks

i painted.

lightening like a

heartbeat on a

winter's day

beneath my palm

fading roses cut into my arms

sweet lips a passing whim

i painted.

terrored animosity

soft hands clasped

tight around my own

fleeting kisses

down my neck

trembling and tears to such

a love i thought existed

i painted.

yellow roses

mixing pinks with murky green

dark circles under

tired eyes

a longing yet diluted

a need and love for

romance past

bright eyes and offhand kisses

i painted

in deep purples

dark reds

and sickly blacks

splotchy ovals

wavy lines

and

broken hearts.
