Slipped Away
The lyrics are from Avril Lavigne's song Slipped Away. I am not affiliated with the song or band. I don't own any Harry Potter characters.
Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na
I miss you, I miss you so bad
I don't forget you, oh it's so sad
George was lying in bed at the Burrow staring up at the ceiling, he was there for Ginny and Harry's wedding. He couldn't believe that it had been seven months since the war, and seven months since Fred's death. George often found himself thinking about his twin after his death.
I hope you can hear me
I remember it clearly
He always wondered if Fred could see him when he was wallowing in pain and tears, if he saw the way his hand would wander to the other side of the bed when he would sleep hoping that everything had a been a dream, if he saw how lost he was sometimes without his crazy mind to help come up with pranks.
The day you slipped away
Was the day I found it won't be the same
Oh
Everything changed for George when Fred died, he rarely smiled now, and he wasn't as bubbly and happy about everything like before his death. He didn't enjoy work anymore, nothing seemed fun to him now. All he could think about his lopsided grin, all that soft red hair, those ivory teeth, all his freckles, his warm honey brown eyes, and that mischievous glint he always had in said eyes.
I didn't get around to kiss you
Goodbye on the hand
I wish that I could see you again
I know that I can't
George had fallen in love with him also. It was a forbidden love, but he didn't care what anyone thought. He had held it in for years, which was difficult considering the fact he lived in the same room as him, and slept in the same bed as him. So before you judge him, wouldn't you want to jump him under those specific circumstances? But here's the salt in the wound; he was preparing to tell him about his love before they had called in all members of the Order to Hogwarts for the war, so he planned to tell him after the made it out of the war bloodied and wounded, but still alive. He planned to give him the best kiss of his life. He wouldn't care about the coppery taste of his and twins blood, all that would've mattered was that they were alive and in love.
I hope you can hear me
I remember it clearly
He remembered when they were fighting in the war, when they were moving to the Great Hall. Fred had promised that they both would get out of there alive with the rest of their friends and family. George clutched the sheets on that side of the bed, hot salty tears falling fast down his cheeks staining the light blue sheets a darker hue of the color. "You promised Freddie, you promised. George said through his tears. He wanted to scream from his pain.
I had my wake up
Won't you wake up, I keep asking why
And I can't take it, it wasn't fake
It happened, you passed by
Now you're gone, now you're gone
There you go, there you go
Somewhere you're I can't bring you back
Now you're gone, now you're gone
There you go, there you go
Somewhere you're not coming back
Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na
Fred couldn't come back. No spell had been invented to bring back the dead, fully alive at least. So his only way was to dream, and to look at pictures. He lifted his head up and looked at the picture of them as little kids smiling and waving at him. George always found himself saying this:
"I miss you"
