Best Thing About Tonight
The Gryffindor common room was not known for being a quiet place. Those who were actually interested in studying for a test or doing their homework would usually sneak off to the library until the early hours of the morning to avoid the racket that would occur every evening.
That racket was caused mostly by two people. Two very mischievous, annoying, rude sixth year boys, who were constantly finding themselves in trouble for one thing or another.
So imagine Lily Evans' surprise when she came down from the dormitory one evening – books in hand, ready to finish a Charms assignment due the next day – to find it deathly silent.
Potter and Black were there, but they weren't causing havoc by terrorising first years. No, they were just sitting in the comfy armchairs, watching her as she descended. Potter's hazel eyes were beaming, and Black appeared more amused than anything else. She didn't even need to yell at them, or roll her eyes at them. They were behaving themselves.
Pigs must have been flying.
"What do you want?" she asked, when Potter stood from the armchair, grinning.
"Nothing," was his only reply, and from behind his back, he extracted a single red rose. "I just like it when you're not yelling at me," he said.
This is the first Jily I've written that I'm actually kind of proud of. I hope you all liked, especially you Lisa. I know it's only short, but I was happy where it ended.
Also, anyone, if you'd like me to write you something next year, i still have spots open. Please PM me with pairings/characters and I'll add you to a month (list can be found on profile).
