AN/ HAI GUYS, I'M ALIVE! -dies- It's been a very long, very difficult, and very eventful couple months for me, dealing with mother's health problems & my first semester of college. But it's a new year and a new beginning and I have hope that 2012 will be better than its older brother. T_T Anyways, this is my latest project that will hopefully eventually continue, because I know what I want to do with it, but unfortunately school just started today, so we'll see what happens. (Speaking of school, I love my new Anthropology prof XD)
I LOVE YOU GUYS! Please read and review!
ps/ Little bit of a backstory required for this: my friend (TisTheeTwilight) and I have our own little Hetalia-verse where Spain and Romano are engaged-but-not-yet-married and have two kids (Antonino/Nino is Seborga and Mariella is some region of Italy that I can't think of currently). Also within that Hetalia-verse (unrelated to this story), Germany and Italy have a daughter named Rosa who is the Republic of Rose Island. XD We enjoy giving our couples children. That's about all you need to know!
pps/ The quote will make more sense later on. For now, it just explains where I got the title. Carry on~!
Absence
Absence does not make the heart grow fonder, but it sure heats up the blood.

60 minutes. It's been 60 minutes of sitting here in this cold, sterile airport, waiting. Just 60 more minutes in addition to over a week of waiting for mi querido to return to my arms, after being away on some ridiculous business trip. 60 minutes of foot-tapping, finger-drumming, page-flipping, doodle-drawing anxiety & impatience.
Our two children are curled up and dozing to one side of me, Mariella tucked, shivering, under her older brother's arm and Nino using her head as a pillow, snoring softly, just like his Mama always does in his sleep. I slide my jacket off my shoulders and drape it over them, giving Nino a small smile when he cracks open a single, green eye to peer at me curiously. At the shake of my head, he quickly slips back into sleep, wrapping his arm tighter around the small girl between us.
I've just begun to contemplate joining my son and daughter in dreamland when all of a sudden, a voice comes over the speakers, announcing the arrival of Flight such-or-such. The numbers strike some familiarity in me, and it takes my sleepy brain longer than it should to fully register what this means.
Without conscious thought, I'm on my feet in an instant, staring hard at the doors on the other side of the rows upon rows of chairs, my heart fluttering excitedly in my chest. They slide open, and people begin to flood out, some immediately leaving the area, off to claim their baggage, while others are greeted by the handful of people that had been scattered throughout the room with me. I search the faces desperately, eagerness & adrenaline coursing through my veins. 65 minutes and a week of waiting, and suddenly- a familiar head of auburn hair with a single gravity-defying curl, sharp golden eyes combing the crowd, and beloved lips turned down in a small scowl.
Before my brain and heart can even say a word to each other, my feet have begun carrying me rapidly across the room, only faintly hearing Nino's sleepy cry of excitement- the only thing that registers is the surprised look that crosses my Lovino's face, which is quickly replaced by one of relief and shy joy. I sweep him up into my arms & swing him around, his laughing complaints music to my ears, though nothing sounds as sweet as when he whispers my name reverently, his arms locked firmly around my shoulders & his mouth at my ear.
"Antonio. I'm home. Antonio, te amo."
AN/ Ta-da! Hope you enjoyed, and keep an eye out for more! Please review and tell me what you thought!
As always, with lots of love, Spain~
