Kyuseishu clashes with an ANBU squad and flees from Konoha towards Sunagakure to meet an important person there. But a mysterious Hunter-Nin intercepts him midway in the desert and attempts to assassinate him. They get engaged in a fight until the Hunter-Nin overpowers Kyuseishu with his enormous skills in sand manipulation and when he was about to finish him off, A Kunoichi appears and saves the situation. The female, who turned out to be the same person that Kyuseishu sought to meet, engages herself in the battle with him against the Hunter-Nin and the both sides were equivalent in power until the Hunter-Nin used the Sand Burial jutsu and buried Kyuseishu under the sandy ground before retreating and leaving Katsumi broken physically and emotionally after she drained all of her Chakra in the battle and believed that Kyuseishu is finished.
