A/N: Okay sorry to all the people who have put me on their author alert list, and have gotten bombarded with an abnormally high amount of Rose/Scorpius fics. lol I've been on a 4-day-weekend and have been writing like CRAZY! I'll probably get epically bored one day and make a sequel to this. (Cleverly titled:...Second Impressions!) haha
Title: First Impressions
Rating: K
Summary: First impressions are everything. At least that's what people say….. A young Rose Weasley meets Scorpius Malfoy for the very first time. One-shot.
"Mum!?" The redheaded girl cried out. "Dad!?" She tried again. No such luck. The girl held her head up high, trying to see over the people who were coming in both directions. Again, no such luck. A warm tear of frustration ran down her cheek. I'm lost in Diagon Alley…lucky me. The girl thought to herself looking around at all the unfamiliar faces.
"Ouch! Watch where you're going!" A small blond boy, who looked around the girl's age, cried when he was knocked down to the ground.
"Sorry!" The redheaded girl muttered trying to help the boy up. He swatted her hand away, and jumped up by himself. "I'm kinda lost."
"Kinda?" He snickered. "How old are you? Only babies cry when they can't find their parents!" The boy stated matter-of-factly.
The girl instantly put her hand up to her cheek, wiping away the remnants of the tear. "I'm no baby!" She exclaimed angrily. "I'm 7!"
"Hmmm, same." The boy replied in an 'I'm-trying-to-sound-older-then-I-am' voice.
"You don't look 7!"
"Hey! I'm short for my age, alright?" The blond shook his head, then held out his hand. "I'm Scorpius. Scorpius Malfoy."
"Rose," The redheaded girl shook the boy's hand. "Rose Weasley."
"What kind of name is Weasley?! Besides isn't that like a joke shop, or something?"
"Well, what kind of name is Sco-Scor-??"
"Scorpius!"
"Yeah that."
"It's a constipation!"
"You mean constellation?"
"Yeah, whatever." The boy held up his hand. "It's still better then being a flower."
"I am NOT a flower!"
"According to your name, you are." The blond laughed. "You're a flower and a weasel. Or maybe you're a flowering weasel? Who knows?"
Rose put hand hands on her small hips. "Excuse me? I'll have you know that-"
"SCORPIUS HYPERION MALFOY!!! Get back here, you little devil child!!!"
The boy looked over his shoulder. "Uh-oh, that's my nanny! Gotta go!"
"But-"
"Oh and if she asks, tell her I went that way!" Scorpius pointed forward before turning around, and running into a shop that Rose recognized as Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop. Thankfully for him, there were enough people around to obscure him from view.
"Alright where is he?" A plump, middle aged woman asked looking down at Rose. Her blue eyes looked both tired, and frustrated.
"Uhhh, he went that way…." Rose lied, pointing in the opposite direction of where Scorpius had actually gone. It was the first time, but certainly not the last, Rose Weasley straight-up lied to help Scorpius Malfoy.
The woman groaned, turned around angrily, and walked away bumping into the occasional person as she did so.
"Rose!" The familiar voice exclaimed seconds after the woman had disappeared "There you are!" The brunette flung her arms around her daughter. "We were so worried!"
"Mum, I'm fine!" Rose moaned, tuning out her mother as she took her hand and started to give her a lecture about how she was to never leave her side EVER again. Looking over at the shop Scorpius had previously disappeared into, she saw the blond boy standing in the doorway. She waved.
He waved back, and so began the long-lived, perplex relationship of Scorpius Malfoy and Rose Weasley....
