All I Want For Christmas Is You
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
"All I want for Christmas... is you." Lily almost whispered down the microphone. The entire audience of her mum's idea of a talent show stared at her expectantly, waiting for her to continue singing. All except one. Scorpius Malfoy's eyes were wide, piecing together her actions in the past few months and her singing – especially when her eyes wandered over to him. An expression of horror crossed Lily's face and she sprinted off stage, rushing to the toilet where she promptly threw up.
She'd thought it would be a good idea. She hadn't realised that the Slytherin would figure it out. She just thought that he might think it was good and start to like her, or, at least, compliment his best friend's little sister. Tears dripping down her face, she curled up in a ball in the corner of the cubicle, trying to settle her queasy stomach.
When the door opened, she assumed it would be Rose, her cousin who cared for her most in their huge family. But she wasn't in the mood to be comforted – not today, not now. "Go sway, Rose," she said, not raising her head.
She heard a chuckle. "If I'm Rose, then you're a stuffed iguana."
Oh, god, she thought. She looked up in alarm at Scorpius' voice and felt a tiny bit better when she realised that his eyes were sparkling. "Oh, er, hi." She ducked her head again, to avoid eye contact, and jumped slightly when he sat next to her, even though she was on the floor.
"Cheer up, Lily." He said, as if he hadn't realised that she was in love with him. "Come on, it's nearly Christmas. What do you want? I haven't got you anything yet." He said, in the most casual voice he could.
"You know what I want." She whispered miserably.
Scorpius shrugged."Maybe I do. Maybe I don't. Just tell me."
"You."
His expression showed that this wasn't new to him. "I think I can manage that." He tipped her head up, wiped away her tears with his long, pale fingers, and then softly pressed his lips against hers. "How could you not notice I loved you? Who else would it be?"
Lily chuckled weakly, exhilarated from the kiss. "I thought you'd love Dominique. She's nearer your age – only one year younger – and she's much more beautiful."
He made a 'tsk'ing sound. "Silly Lily. You're way more beautiful than anyone. Now, will you go and sing your sing again?" He pouted, giving her puppy eyes. "For me?"
5 minutes later (the time it took for Lily to sing and for the applause to finally die down), Lily said that she had an announcement. "I already got the best present ever – Scorpius."
There was some cheering (from most of them) a couple of 'finally!'s and 'about time!'s (from Draco, Astoria, Ginny, Harry, Albus and Rose) and two people pretending to throw up (this was from Roxanne and Fred of course). Also, one person – James – was complaining that his present would be much better than anything anyone else could give her. Lily just rolled her eyes at this.
A little while later, Scorpius grinned at Lily. "That took quite a lot of courage, Lils." He hugged her closer.
She shrugged. "Of course. I'm a Gryffindor."
When James and Albus poked their heads in, half an hour later, and saw Scorpius and Lily cuddled together in the bed, asleep – clothed, mind you – they raised their eyes to the heavens. "So that's what all the noise was."
A/N: Ugh, reading this back over, it's awfully soppy. Anywho, ta for reading.
