The untold story of Rue's life

Rue was always a happy vibrant child ever since the day she was born. She found joy in everything. She was the eldest of her five siblings. Yet she still had a small frame of 4'8. On hot summer days or cold winter nights she'd sing to her siblings this tune, I look to the day when skies aren't always as gray when life is changed the day without the games that have thrown lives away I hope my dear that will live here with hope and peace again. That always took the children's mind off things listening to their older sisters sweet voice that everyone in district 11 would stop to listen too. But her sweet voice couldn't stop time and that meant she'd soon be twelve and everyone knew what that meant. It meant it would be her first reaping. That morning she woke up to her mom and five other siblings crying just sitting there on the floor crying. And Rue began, I look to the day when skies aren't always as gray when life is changed the day without the games that have thrown lives away I hope my dear that will live here with hope and peace again. When Rue finished singing the room was silent then everyone hugged and kissed her. Rue went back upstairs and put on a dress she made just the other day with flowers painted on the bottom in vibrant spring colors. She loved this dress she made and hoped it would bring her good luck. She wore the bracelet her mother wore on her first reaping day made out of cotton that still smelled fresh and clean. On the bracelet it had the letters MTOBEIYF. She knew what it meant. May the odds be ever in your favor the words. Rue hoped the odds were in her favor she hoped to get through her first reaping. Once she was dressed and clean she attended to her youngest sister Rose who was having trouble tying her hair with a pink bow. Rue loved Rose with all her heart and loved her as if she was more than just her sister. She cared for her like a mother. Once Rue tied the bow her mom gave everyone some blueberry bread which to Rue's surprise had a good taste. They hugged again and then departed to an uncertain fate that no one could avoid.
