Hey guys I know I usually write for young justice but inspiration hit and I had to write this, also this story is kind of AU if not entirely
I don't own ADJL
She stood atop one of the few remaining buildings. The breeze blew through her long ebony hair and the thick smog filled sky that looked as black as night. Her heart almost shattered as she observed the warfare below her. It was absolute devastation; a once thriving city was mere rubble now. Debris and remains were scattered across the bloodstained land. It was hell on earth. She was the only one left now.
Her parents were the first to go, and grandpa died a few months after that. Trixie and Spud died a year later in an explosion. A few years went by before Rose died. Sometimes she can still hear her brother's screams as he saw the blonde fall. Another few years went by and Jake too became a victim of the war. She would never forget watching his demise. He didn't even see the falling tower until it was too late and everything came crashing down on top of him. A river of tears streamed down her soot-covered face as she frantically dug through the rubble. When she finally got to him it was too late. She'd seen a lot terrible things the past few years, dead bodies, mass genocide and the complete and utter destruction of the place she once called home. But that was nothing compared to the sight of her brother's mangled corpse.
From her perch atop the building she remained. The clouds rumbled and lightning flashed across the horizon. Rain soon followed, pouring down on the warzone. At sixteen years old she was wise beyond her years. All innocence lost. Her tall thin frame was covered with scars. She had lost everything, her family, her friends and her home, but her will to fight was still there. Fire still burned in her eyes. No matter how little it was, hope still remained. She was strong; she could make it through this. She was a survivor. Her face was hardened by determination, she was not going to loose the war. She was going to make sure that everyone's sacrifices would not be in vain. She promised to fight until her last dying breath.
Walking along the abandoned streets and ruins she could sometimes see the shadows of the ghosts of the ones she once knew. Their lifeless eyes haunted her dreams. Reminding her of what she had lost.
As the war dragged on the final battle drew near. The young dragon stood on top of a pile of rubble with a few of the other survivors. The opposition collected in the distance, outnumbering them by far. She could feel that the end was soon, but she wasn't going down without a fight. She was going to give it her all, always resisting, never backing down. She wouldn't stop until the war was over. She was going to survive, she was going to rebuild, she was not going to parish. The memories of the ones she loved; the ones she lost, filled her mind. Their deaths would not be for nothing. As the enemy approached she let out a roar and charged into the fray. Fighting like she had nothing to loose, in hope that there would be a future. A better tomorrow…
So what did you think? Haley is my favorite character and I just had to write a story about her I know its sad but it's still about her. The plot bunnies wouldn't leave me alone. Please review, it would make my day.
