He hates Sammy getting sick. Most days he pretends this life doesn't get to him, that he's happy they're not some dull normal family. They're heroes who help people when no one else can.
But when Sammy's stuck in bed with a fever, that's when it hits him. Sam knows no different, but Dean can still remember her. Sitting up all night when he was sick, her soft voice singing him to sleep.
Dean strokes Sam's hair from his forehead, places the cool cloth back there. Sam never had what he did. He supposes he'll just have to do instead.
