Once upon a time, there was a lord named Hisao and a lady named Aimi who ruled a large and mighty land called Musashi. And yet, Hisao was sad for he was growing old and had no child to inherit the throne. Then, happily, a daughter was born who is a princess and she was given the name- Kagome.
Lords and ladies and the villagers came from all around, offering gifts to the child. Among them were a lord named InuTaisho and a lady named Izayoi and their young son, Prince InuYasha of the Western Land. For Kagome's gift, Prince Inuyasha gave her a heart-shaped locket necklace that has a swan, and dropped it to her tiny hands.
It was then that Hisao and Aimi and InuTaisho and Izayoi happen to upon the same idea: Inuyasha and Kagome will be brought together each summer in hopes that they will fall in love and join their kingdoms forever.
But unknown to all was another plan, that of the evil sorcerer, Naraku. Kagome's birth was a little concerned to him. Therefore, he was preparing to take Hisao's land by means of the Forbidden Sorcery. On the eve of his assault, Hisao attacked, and Naraku's powers were plunged into darkness.
Despite calls for his death, the sorcerer was only banished from the land of Musashi. When Hisao's guards tried to rope his hands, Naraku was able to break free. He told Hisao, "I'm not finished with you yet, Hisao."
He continued speaking of vengeance. "Someday, I'll get my power back. And when I do, everything you own, everything you love will be MINE."
Hisao pointed Naraku the direction of his exile, and Naraku walked away. Many feared Lord Hisao too kindly. But in time, the threat was forgotten. And all hopes turned into the not-too-distance summer when Inuyasha and Kagome would meet.
