YES! Ari felt as though he could exploded with glee and happiness. They had got Max back and Ari was her guard. If Max done one thing wrong, he would punch that beautiful face of hers. " Ari, your need to guard the mutant" said a nasally voice. Ari made his way down the corridor and into the lab, Max was being held in. He crouched down next to her cage and as she looked at him, with hatred making her eyes glitter, Ari couldn't help laughing. Suddenly, Max sprung to the other side of her cage, reached a hand through the bars and crabbed Ari's collar. " You better wipe that smile of your face dog or I'll do it for you" she threatened. ""Ooh. Someone's a little feisty today, aren't they?" Ari laughed. Max just growled at him. Then, a lab assistant came in and whopped Max's hand. Making her pull back. Ari got a strange feeling in his stomach, was it guilt? " Ari, you were supposed to be bringing her to the table" scolded the assistant. " Sorry" replied Ari. The assistant unlocked Max's cage and Ari lifted her out. Although she squired, she didn't try and kick Ari. Max did try and kick the assistant though. But, he shot a syringe of something into her arm and she went limp. Like a wet towel. As Ari placed her on the table, he got that syringe feeling again…
2 hours later, Max was back in her cage and Ari went to see her. She looked up at him with weary eyes and Ari realised how bad she looked. Her once beautiful face was covered with cuts and bruises. There were whip arks covering her arms and legs. She was paler than usual and her breathing was coming in quick pants. Ari suddenly knew what he had to do. " Max?" He said. " What?" snapped max. " I'm gonna get you out of here" Ari said. "WHAT?" Max was shocked. " I'm gonna get out out of here. I'll make it look like I'm taking you outside to fight you, then, you fly away and I'll make sure you don't get caught." Max was speechless. " Why are you getting me out? You hate me, I hate you. That's how it works" "I've grown, Max. I realised I don't hate you. I was just jealous of you because Jeb liked you more." Ari explained in a hurried whisper. " Now hurry up" he said. Ari unlocked the cage and carried her out the room. " Ari? What are you doing with the mutant?" A white coat asked. " I'm taking her outside for a little fight" chuckled Ari. Max squirmed and kicked to play it up a little. " Okay, don't be too long, she's wanted for the new experiment." replied the whitecoat. Ari nodded and took max outside. "Go! Now!" He shouted,. " But-" Ari cut her off. " Don't worry about me, just go back to the flock. Max took a running start and flung her wings out. The last thing she saw before she flew away was Ari being tasered then kicked, then shot with a hypo of something that made him scream in agony and writhe on the floor…
