Xemnas sighed as he stared at the mounds of paper littering his desk. After hours there was barely a dent in the workload. It seemed like everyone liked to wait a couple weeks and then hand over all the reports at once. There must be a conspiracy going on. He'll have to hand out harder missions until they learn to hand in their reports on time.
An exasperated hand ran through silver locks as a portal opened. A cloaked figure stumbled through and almost greeted the floor. Xemnas managed to save them from face-planting, he didn't need more blood on the floor. Stains are hard to get out of white.
Standing in front of the smaller person, he yanked off the hood to reveal spiked up dirty-blond hair and tired teal eyes. Without thinking he touched a bruise on his cheek.
"Demyx, I told you to be careful. I don't need anyone to be more useless than they already are."
Demyx snorted and shoved the mission report in his face. "What a great thanks after almost getting teared apart by a three-headed dog from, literally, hell."
Grabbing the papers and throwing them atop the pile on his desk, Xemnas took the time to observe him unnoticed. The blond didn't seem to be too grievously injured, besides some bruises he seemed more exhausted than anything. Deep bags hung under bloodshot eyes which were dull.
Xemnas grabbed his chin and forced his eyes to look in his. "Don't be insubordinate, Demyx." There was no reprimand in the authoritarian baritone. The grip was also firm but gentle, his thumb stroking the heated cheek.
The feeling was soothing and Demyx leaned into it. Eyes slid shut as he relaxed. Breath evening out as he slumped forward.
Xemnas blinked at the face in his chest. Involuntarily, he chuckled when he realized Demyx had fallen asleep. Carefully removing the arm being crushed betwwen their bodies, he put it under his knees and lifted him up. Carrying him brida; style, Xemnas decided it was too much work to open a portal to Demyx's room. Instead, he went to the door connecting to his own room.
After dumping the body, which amazingly didn't wake up after the rough handling, Xemnas tried to decide if it was worth it to walk the ten meters back to his desk. It wasn't. Instead, he stripped off their cloaks and boots and pulled the covers over them.
Unconsciously, Demyx moved closer to the warmth and pressed his T-shirt clad back into his dark chest. Wrapping his arms around the sleeping figure, Xemnas smiled the closest thing that he has ever come to a real smile.
