Chapter One: Gallifreyan Dawn
The light of the Gallifreyan dawn lit her skin, but it was not bright enough to outshine her sorrow. In that one moment, she became the glowing, expectant mother and the grieving widow. She had known all these years this day would come. No matter how she tried to hide it, she could not deny today.
Her husband beside her brushed his hand against her cheek. In his mind, he knew the future she saw, even though he dared never look for it. Pressing his lips to hers, he felt the child growing within her womb.
"I'm still with you," he said.
"I know, love. I am still going to miss you."
"You'll never be a second without me. You give me hope for all the seconds I won't have you."
"I love you," she said.
"I always love you," he said. "Nothing changes that."
