Susan's Return to Narnia
Prologue
Narnia [At the end of the Telmarine Occupation]
Susan listened intently as Aslan talked to Peter. Peter was not to return to Narnia after returning to England this time. Then Aslan talked quieter and she could not hear what he was saying. She thought she could hear her name here and there. She then wondered if she was not to return either.
"Daughter of Eve," Aslan had finished talking to Peter.
"Yes Aslan?"
"You will not be returning to Narnia with your younger siblings. There will be another path,"
"What do you mean, I am not coming back to Narnia? And what sort of path?"
Susans shoulders slumped in dispair as the light seemed to dim around her. Her eyes began to fill with tears. They had only been in Narnia for a few days this time, as compared to the length of time they spent ruling Narnia over a thousand years ago. There was no telling when she would return. Edmund and Lucy could have dozens of journeys to and from Narnia before she returned herself.
"You do not need to know now. But look for the Oncoming Storm," Aslan said.
"Oncoming Storm? What does that mean? Susan asked, fighting back the tears. Did that mean that she had to find out what the Oncoming Storm was before returning to Narnia. She spent a long interval of time wondering about this.
Aslan looked at her, and Susan finally burst out in tears and hugged him. Her body was quaking all over with grief. Then Aslan spoke to her again.
"You will come to know me in your world. If you look. But I have another Name there. You must come to know me by that Name"
"Yes, Aslan"
Later
Edmund and Lucy listened as Peter told them about their talk with Aslan.
"You can't come back, ever?" they said in dismay.
"Oh, you two are," answered Peter. "At least from what he said, I'm pretty sure he means for you to get back some day. But not me. He says that I am getting too old. I don't know what is happening with Su. All he said was that she will return to Narnia by another Path, and then he said something about an Oncoming Storm."
"Oh, Peter," said Lucy. "What aweful bad luck. Can you bear it?"
"Well, I think I can," Peter said.
And so the ancient Kings and Queens of the Narnian House of Pevensie changed back into their school clothes. They then went out into the glade, with jeering Telmarines, cheering Narnians and Aslan. They made ready to depart Narnia to go back to the world that England was a part of.
They said goodbye to their friends, especially Caspian, Reepicheep, Trufflehunter and Trumpkin, and finally to Aslan Himself.
