You love him more than you love me...
"Please don't leave."
"I'm sorry Max but I can't watch you around him."
"That's not fair!"
"I'm sorry, I really am. Max I've loved you for such a long time, and feel like a complete ass for not making that move. But it's not meant to be, right?"
"How can you say that after everything that we've been through together?"
"Max, please don't make this any more difficult than it already is." He looked at her with so many emotions in his eyes that made Max want to crawl under a rock in shame, "I watch you every day, looking at him with such content and love that I would give anything to have that."
"But I do look at you like that."
He shook his head sadly, "trust me, it's different. You love him more than you love me. I have to go." He stepped forward, bending down to pick up his bag, "you know, he loves you too," holding up a virtual hand of silence, "Don't deny it Max. I mean something's got to give if you are always doing something for him right? Besides, I've seen the way he watches you when you are not looking and believe me…the he won't let you go."
"I don't know what to say." Max said guiltily.
"Hey it's okay you know. I'm okay. You don't have to say anything. I just want you to be happy. I love you enough to let you go because I know that he will make you happy. It's all that matters to me."
"What about you? Where will you go now?"
He gave her a reassuring smile, "Asha and I…well, we'll see."
"You love her?"
"Asha is a good person and I do care about her. Who knows, maybe one day I would reciprocate her love." He gave a reassuring smile.
Max nodded, "I'm so sorry, I never meant for any of this to happen."
"I know, you can't help the way you feel," shuffling his feet, he looked straight into her eyes, "I want to kiss you right now, but…"
"It would be a bad idea." She sadly smiled.
"Yeah. You take care Max, and tell him that you love him. Besides," he paused at the threshold to face her with a cheeky smile, "Everyone knows that you love Alec."
Alec stood immobile outside Max's TC office. The revelation of this knowledge made him somewhat hopeful and nervous at the same time,
"Hey…"
"Don't screw this up Alec…"
"I promise I won't Logan."
