"Bones, come on! What's one little stain going to do?" Booth exclaimed.
"It looks bad! This is my award dinner. If there's a stain it's going to be on the tabloids You know I never worry about this. But this is huge, I never sold so many copies of a book in a month! The photographers will talk about it and it's gonna make me look bad. Stains on my dress aren't going to look good. My new publisher Natalie told me that it could even pull some people away from buying the book"
"Seriously Bones, You really worry about that so much. What does that snobby publisher have that you don't?
"Um, Booth she can do whatever she wants with this book. If she feels it's not selling good she can take it off the market. It's that simple!"
"Okay, lets forget about it. Bones you look great. Black suits you well. You know the whole black look. Seems to be in? That's what Angela says anyway."
Brennan laughed. "So now you take advice from Angela."
"Yup, sure do. She's pretty smart actually. She knows quite a bit too. You'd be surprised!"
"No actually I am not. Ange is my best friend. I know everything there is to know anyway." Brennan gloated.
"Yea, sure you do." Staring at his watch for a moment he realized the presentation started in 30 minutes "Crap, We have to get going!"
"I am almost ready. Brennan finished her look with a pearl necklace that was her mother's. She looked very sophisticated in a black knee length dress and black pumps with her hair neatly in a bun.
On, the way to the award dinner Booth suddenly realized something.
"Um Bones, I forgot to tell you. Your dad is coming tonight."
The car became really silent. You could actually hear a pin drop if you listened closely.
" Well, thanks for telling me last minute. You know I really don't care. He should be free to come."
"Really? Replied Booth.
" Yes, I think I can trust him enough now. I have gained as much trust as I think I can from him. But, Booth, tell me earlier next time. She smiled.
"No problem. Will do!" Booth smiled replying back.
They drove chatting about what was new and how Parker was doing. Soon they reached the theatre that was a few minutes away from the city. Surprisingly it wasn't the site they thought they would see. Cop cars and a couple Ambulances surrounded the theatre.
"What the heck is going on, Booth?" Brennan asked.
"I honestly have no idea. They should have told me something. Let's go see. Shall we?"
The two stepped out of the car racing towards the scene. Booth showed his badge to the cop next to the scene.
He noticed a cop standing by the entrance. " I am Agent Booth. This is Temperance Brennan, she's suppose to be receiving an award tonight.
" Right, I am Detective Randy Nole. There was a double murder that took place here tonight."
"Who were the victims? Booth questioned.
"Names were Owen and Natalie Walsh.
" Oh my god. Booth, Natalie's my publisher. Owen is her husband. Booth they're dead!"
