Frodo ran down the lane and over to his friend and gardener, Sam's house. He knocked on the door. The Gaffer, Sam's father answered the door.
"Why Frodo! This is a pleasant surprise!"
"Not meaning to sound hasty, sir, but is Sam here?" Frodo asked looking around the Gaffer.
"No, no he isn't. He just left actually. He went down to young Master Pippin's hole." Fear seized Frodo. They would take him as well! Frodo turned
on his heel and ran out the door. He raced along a lane and down to Pippin's hole. He pushed open the door and nearly knocked over Pippin's mother.
"He's out in the garden dear!" She called after him. Frodo reached the back door and put a trembling hand on the knob. His stomach was knotted and he was shaking all over. Frodo grasped the handle and turned and pushed. He stepped out into the sunlight and blinked. Pippin, Merry and Sam were facing the trees on one side of the garden. Merry and Pippin were trying to get Sam inside the forest.
"You know I really think I shouldn't go in there without Mister Frodo's permission. I'm supposed to be trimming his garden hedge at the moment." Sam refused with a look of panic on his face. Frodo stepped off the steps and to the back of the garden where Merry, Pippin and Sam were standing.
"Trying to get the Shire to join your little club eh, Pippin?" Frodo asked with fury.
"Soooo. You've finally found out have you, Frodo? Going to stop us are you?" Pippin replied coolly. That thought seemed to have struck Frodo as well. How was he going to stop them? Sam was looking at Frodo with an odd look on his face. Sam didn't have a clue what was going on.
"C'mon, Sam! Lets go now!" Pippin said, trying to drag Sam into the forest.
"NO! Sam don't!" Frodo screamed, leaping to grab Sam's other arm but it was to late. Sam was gone. Frodo ran after them jumping over branches and trees. Finally he got to a small clearing where Pippin, Merry and Sam were standing. Sam's body was ridged and a necklace hung from his neck. Frodo gasped and fear filled him. It had taken Frodo's gardener and close friend as well.
