Orion

about'em
AN: I have no idea what constellations would be visible from L2. I just guessed.

"I'm home!"
Duo closed the door behind him and set down the grocery bags he was holding. Then
took a look around the apartment. Where was Hilde?
"Hilde? You there? Sorry I'm late, the junkyard was a little busy tonight."
Hilde, however, didn't appear to be home. Dou did a quick low-down of the apartment,
but found not trace of his girlfriend. He brought the groceries into the kitchenette and
began putting things away, confident that Hilde would show up in a few minutes. Hilde,
however, seemed to think otherwise. She didn't come home.
Duo did another quick scan of the kitchen and living room. His eye caught on a small
piece of paper lying on the counter:
Duo,
Went stargazing. Am out on the hill by the building. Come on out and join me.
-Hilde
What the heck? Duo hadn't been out stargazing in about, well, actually never. He
walked leisurely down the stairs and out the door. As he walked toward the hill, Duo
glanced up at the stars. Out here, in space, they where certainly a lot brighter then on
Earth. And with no clouds to block the view.
"I wondered when you'd come."
Duo looked down at Hilde. She was lying on her back, staring up at the sky with those
beautiful blue eyes of hers. Duo sat down beside her and brought his knees up to his
chin. Hilde stretched her arm out, pointing.
"Look, Duo, there's Cygnus! It's never been this bright before!"
Duo followed Hilde's pointing arm up to the sky. But try as he might, the stars refused to
form the shapes others had seen, and named.
"It just looks like a bunch of stars to me, Hilde."
"But you can see the Big Dipper, right? Or how about Libra?"
"I was brought up with the North Star. I can see the Dippers."
Duo flopped down on the grass and put his arm around Hilde's shoulder. He followed
her arm again to a cluster of seven stars, two very dim, one exceptionally bright.
"It's the Pleiades! I bet you've never seen those before, Duo!"
Duo chuckled. "There's a great many things I've never seen before, Hilde, most of the
constellations among them."
Hilde propped herself up on her elbows. "I should give you an astronomy lesson
sometime."
"No need. But, if I get to spend more time with you lying on the grass under the stars
like this, then what the hell."
Hilde giggled. She began to set herself back down, then saw something that made her
shoot right up again.
"Duo! It's Orion!"
Duo laughed out loud.
"So it is, so it is. Guardian of the sky."
Hilde pulled herself up again and looked at Duo, her eyes full of amazement and
admiration.
"Dou, I had no idea you where poetic."
"Just don't tell anyone."
Hilde laughed and snuggled up against Duo, her very own, personal Orion.

AN: Hehe, *sheepish* this sort of sucks. I don't reall like the ending, but I like the rest of it.
So up it goes. Please, r/r. Flame if you must, I really don't care.
