A/Ramble: Inspired by the mad rush witnessed when passing the florist. Enjoy!

~ A Daisy for Her ~

Jack twirled the single white daisy between his fingers, the stem becoming a darker green from the dizzying abuse. Only a select few that passed him in the pipeline corridors noticed the tiny blossom and even fewer made a note of it.

At last he came to his intended destination, not bothering to knock or announce himself. He'd rather surprise her.

Touching the bottom of her ear with the soft petals since her hair covered the top, her held back an amused grin when Sam spun around, very much startled.

''Sir, I didn't hear you come in.''

''Stealth.'' He held up the daisy, which looked a little worse for wear. ''Happy Mother's Day.''

Sam looked to the flower, back to him, then to the daisy again and gave him a confused shake of her head. Rightly so.

''I'm not a mother, Sir.''

He reached out and took the hand not strangling her biro, placing the daisy in her palm.

''Yeah, I know. But somewhere in a not too distant reality, timeline, future... Whatever, you probably are.'' He closed her hand, gave it a reassuring pat and without any unnecessary lingering, turned to leave with a friendly smile.

''What makes you so sure, Colonel?''

He stopped in the doorway, his hand gripping the frame. He could only give her a wink and assure her;

''Just am, Carter. Believe me.''

Despite their situation in this reality, at this time in their lives, Sam chose to believe him.
