-1Just One Tear
Sequel to Complex Sorrows
Have my tears deserted me? Am I that pitiful? Naturally, her long pink hair swayed in the breeze as the icy wind pierced her cheeks. The clearing were Team 7 used to train was now covered in a blanket of sparkling white. The tree's braches drooped from the heavy burden of icicles and snow. The birds chirped as the sun was sinking. A flood of colors bathed the dusk sky.
She softly knelt down and picked up a small amount of sand. She rised and raised her hands toward the horizon. The icy snow slowly turned to water in the waning light.
"Time has passed so quickly. But this place seems to have stayed the same." Her soft cold words carried through the wind as water dripped from her finger tips. The light gave way to the blackness of night.
The first stars twinkled overhead and the moon was full, illuminating a figure in the distance. A light snow started to fall. A flake settled onto Sakura's nose. She wiped it off as she wiped off the memorial. The snow made a soft thud as it fell onto the snowy earth.
"So many people died protecting Konoha. For the benefit of others… Others… Who would I die for? I would die for my village… Maybe Naruto and Kakashi." She mumbled lost in thought.
The second figure stood behind her. He gently pulled her close to him in a hug from behind. Sakura's emerald pools got wide in fear.
"What about me?" An all to familiar voice said in a soft yet cold voice.
Sakura took a sharp intake of breathe. "S-Sasuke?" She stuttered. She felt him slip a letter into her hand.
"Don't speak of this meeting to anyone. And after you read the note burn it. Don't let anyone know of what I wrote to you Sakura. That is a demand not a suggestion." He said softly as if at any moment another ninja would appear.
"Sasuke please stay. Sasuke please?" She pleaded as he held her free hand.
"No Sakura. I must leave. We will meet again some day." He kissed her on the cheek and then disappeared leaving Sakura to her thoughts. Sakura touched her cheek, her heart racing ten times faster than usual. She held the letter close to her heart as she opened it
Dear Sakura,
I know what Orochimaru said to you. All you need to know is I have faith in you. Meet me at the memorial stone this Summer. Make sure you are here at exactly twelve O' clock midnight on the seventeenth of July.
Sincerely ,
Uchiha Sasuke
His letter may have been short but it filled Sakura with hope. She burned it like he asked and promised herself she would never tell a soul. She knew she was doing the wrong thing but if she broke his trust now he would hate her for life. Her mind was set on July seventeenth at twelve O' clock midnight. Happy tears sprang from her eyes as she jumped for joy. Maybe there is still hope after all. Maybe… Just maybe I'm not weak after all.
