Random little oneshot that popped into my head. I don't own Fairy Tail. I wish that I did.
"Hey Flamebrain! Erza has another mission for us!" I ignored him. I hated when he called me flamebrain. In actuality, I was probably much smarter than he was. But I wasn't allowed to show it. Here on Earthland I was Natsu Dragneel, the silly, dense Fire Dragon Slayer.
But I could still ignore Gray. Fiore was a free country, after all.
I sensed that his fist was about to hit the back of my head, and I caught it. I was pretty used to combat, after being in the middle of the Fairy Tail Guild for seven years. Fourteen, if you counted the time when we were all trapped inside the Fairy Sphere. I would be eternally grateful to Mavis for picking up my slack when my power was spent.
Ah! Blocked that kick just in time. Good, that punch connected solidly. He'll be out of it for a while. Therefore, he shall be unable to bother me.
Oops. I forgot that he had said that it was Erza who had a mission. She looks really angry.
Cripes, that woman is scary. I wonder what her reaction would be if she knew what I was.
But I'm not allowed to show them. I wish that I was allowed to. I hate keeping secrets from them. Maybe someday, if I do my job well. If I can keep them safe from harm, mental and physical. Then, maybe, I'll be allowed to show them what I am.
I laughed as I ran out of the guild to prepare for the monster extermination mission. But until then, I'll just have to be their guardian angel from afar.
