Prologue

2 years earlier…

The door creaked open as Percy came home from yet another band practice, the last band practice. He couldn't exactly place when music stopped being fun and became tedious work. Don't get confused, Percy still loved music, at least for now. The feeling of the low bass notes vibrating throughout your bones and the high notes that sounded like twinkling stars. And especially the euphoric high from performing. It was all still very magical.

But the feeling changed, faded almost. It didn't happen all at once. It started with a few moments where he yearned for the silence of the trees and the softness of a whisper. Those moments grew to hours, days, weeks. Everything now, it was just too loud, too much.

One day, having just enough of his slight strumming, Percy decided it was enough. Carefully, he stilled the sheet music in a cardboard box and stuffed it into the depths of his closet. His guitar was next to join. He wanted to see a layer of dust blanket the guitar case and box. He wanted it all to be forgotten, pushed into a distant, yet, fond memory.

Music, now, was painful. The resounding sound that came through headphones seemed like a cage. Each note, no matter how pleasant, only served to sound the cacophony in his head. It was suffocating. The music weighed Percy down. He found it easier just to drown out all sound sometimes, numbing the world away. Only then did he find the peace he searched for. Yet like everything, it came with a price. Music for peace. That was the trade.

A/N: Hello my dear readers! Yes it's really short! I'M SORRY! But I had this idea and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to continue it, so this is kind of a "pilot" of sorts. My plan is to gauge the response and work something out then. PLEASE let me know if you would to see what would happen next or let me know if it's boring. If I do continue, it'll probably just be a few chapters long (long chapters though, 1k-ish words), nothing too crazy. But yeah, that's it! Thank you so much for reading and please leave me a review!

All the Love
