I had been coming to this chat room for quite a while and knew many of the regular chatters, Regs, as they were called.

It was a typical night off from work for me. I settled down in the computer room which was filled with boxes she still hadn't unpacked from her move. I had everything she would need for an evening of killing time and unwinding, a big glass of ice water, a blanket to throw in my lap, as it gets kind of chilly in the back room of the house, and of course my pack of Marlboro Menthol cigarettes. Alright, I know it's a bad habit but at least I'm honest about it.

I've seen him log in before. I always thought he was handsome and had the most clever comments. He seemed like someone that I could see myself getting to know better. Soon the topic of conversation turned to music. I play guitar and saxophone, and of course keep up with all the major genres of music. I was excited to finally have something to break the ice with him about. He started posting some of his favorite lyrics, and I thought I would be quick and finish the lyrics for him. This caught his attention and we finally said hello to one another after weeks of just the occasional hello. I decided to send him a whisper message, since the room was moving on to different topics and I was still interested in learning his taste of music.

i"Hey, do you mind if we chat in private?" /iI asked him. He quickly replied i"Sure, we can keep talking in whisper"

"I'm Amberly, it's really nice to finally talk to you one on one. I've seen you in here a few times, but was always scared to try to get to know you."

"Now, why would you be scared to try and get to know me?"/i he asked. i"I'm Michael, by the way. It's about time you talked to me. I've always thought you were sweet and funny. I'm really glad you took the chance and messaged me". /i

We chatted for hours, about movies and music and his small town that he lived in. He was working in landscaping and told me all about the things he enjoyed about the job, and of course the things he didn't like about it. I, in turn, let him in on my career and kept the conversation going. It seemed like we had so much in common and the chat flowed so well between the two of us. I was wondering why I didn't bother to try to get to know him sooner. Eventually, as all things do, our chat for that night had to come to an end. After finding out that we shared so much common ground, I didn't want to say goodnight. We made plans to meet back the next night and continue our conversation, and perhaps start another one. We said our goodbyes and both went to sleep.

I woke up thinking about him and our chat later that night. I went to bed with the biggest smile on my face. I couldn't believe that I'd found someone as great as Michael to talk to. I couldn't wait to start my day and get it over with so I could meet him back at the same time the next night. Luckily, I was off work for that week, so I had plenty of time to do as I pleased. I found things to do to keep myself occupied. I did several loads of laundry and cleaned both bathrooms and vacuumed the carpets in the bedrooms. I kept watching the clock, growing more and more anxious as the day went on. I knew it was almost time for our "date" as we jokingly called it the night before.
