Missile was a police dog, yes, so Maya knew he could run, knew he loved to run — which was precisely why she asked Gumshoe if she could take him out on a walk one day, after all, Nick did say she needed to go do something.
What she didn't sign up for, however, was the whole Missile running so fast after that other dog that he literally tore his leash out of her hand thing, causing Maya to go sprinting after him, shouting out for Missile as he nearly knocked over the other dog's owner.
Miles, his name was, and the other dog was Pess — Pess and Missile certainly seemed to be getting along, huh — and Maya could not stop apologizing, at least until Pess came over to Maya, definitely wanting to be pet.
