Some Enchanted Evening

Disclaimer: usual rules apply (curls up and rocks gently in a corner)

Note: to say this is an unusual "ship" is a complete understatement but I suddenly had the urge to write something a bit on the unexpected side. Call me crazy :p

A very short drabble. This is inspired by the episode 'Sweet Dreams'.

She sighs with longing and delight as she watches his form move with deliberate accuracy as he goes about his tasks and duties. With wide eyes and heaving bosom, she wonders how she never noticed him before, how silly she has been to never see the quiet dignity and courteous nature fitting for a man such as himself.

She berates herself with a few stern words before her mind fills with joy at merely observing him. She recalls his considerate manner and she can barely breathe as she struggles to prevent herself from running, throwing her arms around him and placing kisses on him. How can he remain so composed when she is a bubbling cauldron of passionate emotion?

She knows that she must remain as calm as he is if she is not to scare him off but, oh, it is so difficult when he acts as if he has no inkling of her feelings for him.

He glances only briefly at her when she bats long lashes at him and turns away to speak to the boy – whatsisname, Merlin? A split-second is all the attention he pays her and it is driving her mad. She must tell him how she feels!

From a small hole in the patterned fretwork of a large screen, the jester Trickler cannot stop his mouth from dropping open with shocked realisation. Somehow, he knows not how, his spell has gone wrong and the enchantment potion has been directed at completely the wrong recipient! He instinctively looks for an escape route as Alined will surely have his head on a pike for this slip-up.

He can only look on in stunned horror as the Lady Vivian gazes with wondrous adoration, not at Prince Arthur but at the physician, Gaius!

Ok, I agree that the possible consequences of taking this scenario any further have a definite high 'Yuck' factor and that's why it's staying as a oneshot. However, I was thinking about who the most unlikely victim of Vivian's attention might be and Gaius was the result.

Like it, hate it? Let me know x
