ABSOLUTE SHELL

I found myself standing on a barren rooftop.....alone.
Nothing but the cold wind in my hair and the distant memories of civilization buzzing like a persistent insect inside my head. Nothing looked familiar.....everything looked.......empty, barren of life.
Suddenly, the sound of quiet footsteps reached my ears. I spun towards the sound. Desperate for something to escape the empty silence. That's when I saw HER......
A young girl, appearing to be seven years old, with long raven colored hair that fell to her mid-back, stood at the edge of the rooftop.
She wore a simple,long, black skirt that fell past her knees, and a well-kept white dress shirt. A dull maroon bandanna held up her long midnight tresses. It drew my attention to her neck.
Around her neck was a thin back cord, on which hung a small ,black, marble cross.
Slowly she turned to face me. Her eyes were nearly black, but each iris held vivid traces of an unusual shade of dull blue grey. They shone with a comforting familiarity and a shy smile formed on her lips.
She smiled at ME......That fact alone warmed me to my core. I had no idea why this young girl made me feel so safe and dare I say........'happy'....
I tried to speak ,but my voice wouldn't work. Even though I didn't say a word, she continued to smile at me. She reached out her hand towards me and I found my own hand reaching for hers. Our fingers brushed, sending a gentle shock through my body.
She pulled her hand back, much to my disappointment. My disappointment must have shown on my face since she began laughing.
She placed her hand over her mouth, laughing softly, her eyes closed in merriment. I found my own lips forming a smile subconsciously.
Her happiness was contagious.
Her laughter subsided and she took a step back. She was suddenly at the roof's ledge.
I reached out, trying desperately to warn her. She smiled knowingly at me before she lifted her arms at her sides and her eyes slid shut.
She deliberately fell backwards off the roof, a soft smile upon her lips.
As she fell, I felt my heart tear in two, before darkness swallowed everything.......
....................Everlasting Blackness lay ahead...................
