"Dad"
Ok so this is gong to start out SamPete, but don't worry we all know how that ends
"Dad?"
"Not quite yet, you have to actually marry my daughter before you can all me that."
Pete had left hours ago but Sam was still constantly replaying the meeting between her father and fiancé in her head. The conversation between them running through her head, over and over.
"you have to actually marry my daughter before you can call me that" Suddenly, unbidden, another conversation, this one from years ago, surfaces.
"Assuming Dad's right…"
"Dad?"
In that instance Jacob had accepted it, answered the question and not batted an eye that his daughter's CO was treating him like his father-in-law. She knew that the Colonel call him "Dad" for years, and that her father and always let him.
'So why's he making all this fuss about Pete, just because it's before the wedding? I'm actually marrying Pete, he'll actually be his father-in-law.'
'I would have thought that if either of the occasions were inappropriate it would be with Jack; due to the frat regs it would have been Jack that- No. can't go there, I can't start thinking about the General and Dad. True, the two men were Air Force through and through, they knew about the Stargate, had worked together on dozens of missions, they clearly respect each other.' So much for not thinking about it, Sam mused to herself.
She had actually worked up the nerve to talk to him about it all, Pete, the house, the whole "Dad" issue, when everything had coming crashing down around her; first his secret girlfriend was there, then came the phone call from the SGC.
"Don't let rules stand in your way" Sam looked at her father in shock. He was an Air Force general! He was always going on about following the rules and regulations to the letter and now he was telling her to throw it out the window.
"I'm happy, really" but by the look Jacob gave her, Sam knew he didn't believe her anymore than she did.
Who knows maybe she really should talk to him.
