Regret
DM/HG Oneshot
I was never everything to you; I was just a means to an end. You could have had me. I could have been yours but you never wanted me did you?
I loved you but I don't think you realised how much. Everytime I was in your arms I cherished those moments; I think of them now but not as often as I use to. I sometimes think back to those nights we'd share, they were perfect then but now they are turmoil.
I had dreams for us; big dreams. I use to think of our wedding even though I knew it would never happen. I use to dream about what our children would look like. Would they look like you? Have your eyes or mine? Those dreams now seem stupid but I wanted them and I think that's why it hurt so much in the end, it wasn't just letting you go it was letting those dreams go as well.
I don't regret those years, they taught me something. They made me who I am today. I often wonder what would have happened if I would have stayed? I also wonder whether you missed me? I doubt it though.
Love is like a battlefield and I for one am not good on the front line.
'Oh sorry!' Hermione said as she bumped into someone. She wasn't use to pushing the pram about in the busy high street.
'It's okay.' He said as he looked up into the dark brown eyes of the woman who bumped into him. 'Granger.' He said.
'Malfoy.' She replied.
'Well...funny seeing you here.' He said.
'Well not really it is Diagon Alley.' She replied as she looked at him trying not to stare into his grey eyes.
'How are you?' He asked awkwardly
'I'm good, really good. Yourself?' She replied.
'Good thanks. So what are you up to now?' He asked.
'On Maternity leave at the moment but I'm lawyer.' She replied smiling.
'Oh so you did go onto become a lawyer then, I always did wonder. Myself, I'm Head of Malfoy Holdings.' He said. 'Like I've always been although I've been working in Paris for the last two years.'
'Oh right.' She said with a soft smile.
'So who is this?' He said peering into the pram at the tiny baby who couldn't be older than two months.
'This is Eden.' She said smiling with pure love. 'She's five weeks old.'
'Wow, you look good for a woman who had a baby only five weeks old.' He said.
'Thanks.' She said as she bite her lip.
'So you're married?' He asked.
'Yes. I've been married for nearly three years.' She said smiling.
'So do I know the lucky man?' He asked.
'Yeah. Viktor Krum.' She said smiling. 'We found each other again and it worked.'
'Oh.' He said as he looked at her.
'What about you? Married? Children?' She asked.
'Not married and no children.' He said. 'I'm a bachelor, always will be.' He said smiling but it not reaching his eyes.
'You always were.' She said as she looked him. 'Sorry I have to go, I've left Viktor at home with our two year old son Xavier.'
'Wow two children.' He said.
'Yep.' She said as she smiled. 'It was...nice seeing you Draco.'
'And you Hermione. Take care.' He said.
'And you.' She said as she walked off. Draco watched as Hermione walked out of sight.
He then realised how much could have been his...
